The latest update to the Left 4 Dead demo has caused widespread problems connecting to servers. I cannot connect to my private server, and others are reporting the same problem due to “server enforcing file consistency for scripts/instructor_lessons.txt”.
The new tie in with Steam Community groups can be seen in the ‘play campaign’ menu:
Unfortunately, it seems pretty broke right now as I was unable to connect to our new public server. It sort of just timed out looking for servers.
I’m sure Valve is buzzing with activity trying to get the demo back and working for everybody on the Friday night before the game releases!
