Wouldn't it be cool to have just infected campaigns, where your team has to coordinate against a team of AI, racking up points so that you get a tank or something.
Thought this could be a cool idea.

this would be decent but it would have to be completely different from versus in order to make it great success.

It could be something like this:
The Survivors have about 4-10 of them barricaded in doors. Your aim is to destroy them as fast as possible. The least time it takes, the more points you get.

This would be the opposite version of survival and both of these could be combined to make a survival VS.

Eh, I'm more talking about only playing as infected against bots of varied difficulty, but that sounds like a good idea too :).

Good initial idea Steve, and that put the clincher on it. I'd really like to try this if the enemy are weaker versions of survivors with some kind of de-buff on corner mele-spamming - could be a big laugh!

How about a mode, where your team is made ou of hunters and the time is just after the infection. All 4 competes in making the most infections. :D An infecting/killing spree in a city/linear maps with the zombies replaced by helpless humans full of fear. :D

Personally I'd say rock on to it. I'd always like some sorta kill the infected guy in your team. Your in a building, after recovering from one of the hot-spots of infection. The lights go out. Another horde rushes in and bites one of your teammates. You then kill the infected in the room. You dont have any ammo, apart from 2 shotgun shells. You have two tries in killing the person you got infected.
Signs: Coughing,
Bleeding,
Runny nose,
Twitching (though all your team will do this.)
Anyone like the idea?

That'd just be a hugely violent game of human whack-a-mole.

Hunter: 'Look! theres one still standing!'
Hunter 2: He's mine!!!!
Human: Awww shit...

Agreed. Also, I think they are ignoring my Steam Support msg, I am almost 1 week without accessing my steam account :[

About that... I sent a support query, because I gave the guest pass for TF2 to my friend, so he could try it before buying it... but it seems, that I fucked my friend over, because when the guest pass is active, he cannot buy the game. And at the time it deactivates, the sale (50% off the price) is over. And that's fucked.

You can pretty much do this anyway, except the bots have eagle-eyes :/

Nevertheless, it would be pretty cool if they made a mode where the AI survivors acted less botty (i.e. no expert marksmans, FF, bots go rogue...basically make them behave more human-like), though I imagine that'd be pretty tough. Good idea, though.

By the way, for those of you wanting to go against AI survivors and don't know how, type sb_all_bot_team in the console on a local server (as the host). Then everyone can move to the infected side. It's not perfect, though -- they'll need a human player to kick-start them in crescendos and finales, though.

Not to my knowledge they don't... at least in the demo they started the crescendo just fine.

What about a scenario sort of like the campaigns now where you are the infected and you've been captured for testing by scientists and must escape a lab or something. There could be infected overtaking the lab from the outside and you have a time limit to get out because the scientists have activated the self destruct sequence, but there would still be scientists/guards walking around trying to get out that could shoot at you (less damage than Vs. mode, something like 2 damage per shot? Depending on the difficulty). But yea thats just an idea.

only the first idea is reasonable, everything else like the infection thing would need emense amount of codeing, and the humans vomiting and things... Way more animations... No thanks, valve will never do those, including the hunter thing, the reason there are multiple classes is that they create oppertunities for each other. So no go on the hunter thing...

Also sorry for spelling mistakes. I'm on my iPod and not in the mood to go back and correct every little thing I misspelled. Or it misspelled.

How about Zombie Tower Defense? Take down wave after wave of survivors running to the saferoom and get points to place things like witches and car alarms, etc. Could be neat if done right.

Tower defense is for people who cant micro.

Also this is a pretty terrible idea coming at a point where bots have the aim of legolas and the reaction time of a 4 year old with down syndrome.

It could be something like this:

Go play Zombie Panic!

The day valve/turtle rock studios does any idea from an individual outside of the dev loop will be the day hell freezes over..what is this your DBZ fantasy?

In all honesty your guys best luck of anything related to this is full infected/survivor side campaigns. Chances of that are .01% though, L4D VS mode is already like one of the best sports alive in a twisted virtual infected shooting form. Football. You play defense you play offense. Why try to change what is already beautiful and just bend over and fuck it anally till it spews out DLC. have Turtle rock studios spend there time more or less creating a spin off to l4d number 2 (which will happen about as fast as the productions of Duke nukem forever)

The point was more that there would be waves of survivors without weapons that would gradually start throwing in upgraded ones with weapons. The challenge would be to see if you could kill the waves fast enough in the fps style so that you could go back to the start to setup up for the next one before it started, etc. The only bit thats would have been like tower defense would have been placing witches, and maybe ai tanks, along the path of the survivors after you earned enough points for them as a team, and the bit about the upgrading waves of survivor bots, though just letting the Director handle that might be better. At any rate, the fun of being an infected is tearing up survivors. The downside to this idea is that if the waves were too large, it would have terrible lag.
