I know I have watched the movie Dawn of the dead before [when it came out in 2004]. I just watched it again in a hunger for some zombie movie action. So many references over and over again that are in L4d ... I can't wait for the mod to come out to get the rest of the movie feel. Just wanted to say if you have not seen the movie Dawn of the dead [2004], I suggest you watch it because it's a damn good movie!

I still haven't watched it yet. Everytime it's on TV it's on at like 12 at night and I keep forgetting to hire it out at the video store.

Yeah. Propane tanks, auto shotguns, zombies haulin' ass. I like that C.J. security guard guy.
"What's the plan?"
C.J.- "The plan is, you sit down and have a nice tall glass of shut the f**k up."
Classic!

Hmm well I guess I will have to check out the 1st one as well. If it stands up to the 2004 version it must be good :p

Well, it isn't all fancy dancy with all them high tech effects and makeup.
It was made in 1978. And like all Romero movies, deals with the survival during the zombie outbreak. The 2004 one, like most movies past 1998, focuses on the fright feature. The 1978 one goes deeper in depth to the characters and their way of living in the mall with zombies all around.
Just a heads-up.

Although I love the original Dawn of the Dead, it does feature that veeeeeeery dated 70s Shaft soundtrack. Plus, the zombies are all blue and the blood is bright red.

Love this film, Dead rising referenced the setting more though, on the main menu it's IDENTICAL to the mall in DOTD.

You should see the original.

My only problem with the DOD remake was that it started off and ended off actiony but had like 20 people walking around a mall for ages in the film where the old film pointed out that despite having everything you could wish for and the zombies couldn't get in, life was boring as fuck.

I love the old songs :D especially the ending, that song showed up in shaun of the dead too

Ok I just watched it, and I must say that it was better then I thought it would be. There are still even many references in the original that are in L4D. I think the acting in the original was pritty damn good for the time. That era ( the year I was born actually ) really was a different time. I am glad we have come so far.

I think I've said before,
imo:

The more plausible the zombie-scenario, the more I like it.
'Undead' Are the worst, imo, and make absolutely no logical sense.

I thought it was great entertainment, but lacked the deeper commentary Romero instilled in the original.

To a mod don't say I have answered with quotes:
Nice movie, but I never saw it.

Humans, thus far, don't know everything about the world around us. So anything can be logical. For all we know, the earth will grow teeth one day and swallow itself.
