Crawling, Scurrying Zombies (Have you seen this?)

Ok, once or twice, I have encountered zombies in L4D that seem to be scrambling on their hands and feet towards me, (You know, like when a person is trying to pick themselves up from being prone AND trying to move somewhere?) and they have freaked me the hell out. O.o

I don't know if this is some weird graphics fuck-up or what, but in Death Toll, in the sewer-lock room, I was charged by one on the newly formed bridge that forms when you hit the switch. (That area is brightly lit.)

And no, I have not gotten this on video. It's only happened 3-4 times out of 100s of games.

No, Ive actually seen it but it doesnt happen often though like you said. You probably dont see it as often because youre either killing them as theyre already running towards you, do to the director calling them or a boomers bile but Im sure if you walked up to as many as you could and waited for them to run at you. Then youd probably see it. Eventually, lol.

i wouldnt put it past the zombies....in the commentary by one of the producers/staff they talk about how they wanted the zombies personified as having a basically one track mind, do anything possible to attack the survivors, i.e sprinting, climbing over/under obstacles... i dont think it weird that they would have to run and stand at the same time...id chalk it up to insightful programming

You know what impresses me? Their realism as they run. They LEAN into turns, just like humans do in real life. Even running in a drunken weave rather than a straight, easy to shoot, line.

It's little things like that that make the game shine.

they do that to get under low stuff, you can see it in NM3 near the crescendo with the 1st truck you see coming out into the street with the gas station. Spawn some with z_add on the other side then nb_rush and you'll see some of them go under the truck scurrying.

I see it sometimes but it looks to me as though they are stuck under props or something. Its funny to see them get stuck under cars and just scream at you but they can't get you.

I've seen this a couple of times and I always think they are hunters, so I freak out and unload on him and then realize I wasted a couple of bullets.

Of course, this is someone who's first FPS experience was DOOM...

Their ability to climb absolutely everything is both amusing and creepy. No survivor is safe from Chicago Zed !

The melee'd animations I find the best. Notice how if you shove them to the ground , they have to spend a while to get up but if you shove them against a nearby wall they can immediately attack you again. Also , it never gets old to watch.

I've actually been seeing this more and more now. especially if I back up to a wall and go to smack or shoot it's like if I swing and then go to swing again they no to duck it and same goes for shooting. it scares me sometimes. it will be like 2 zombies and I will be like eh no problem then bam ducks my swing and hits me and I'm like wtf then unload in them.

A few times I have seen them crawl under something then keep crawling really fast for a while even once they get out from under where they were, creeps me out everytime, reminds me of dead space.

It happens quite a bit in the train station area in Blood Harvest because often they have to get under the edges of the train cars. I swear they travel faster on all fours too.

Well, this one time, I was playing Left 4 Dead, and and, then this infected started running towards me, and, then he ran into a pipe and then he had to duck down and and then he was on a fours and it was scary.

(I did see some do this, my reaction was a prompt "Lolwut")

i get it all the time, particularly when i've been getting a lot of headshots. they have to be close enough to shine the light in their eyes though. weird.

yeah.. I se this alot when they're near pipes.. scared the hell out of me the first I saw it too. It was all dark so I turned on my flashlight, and theres this infected charging at me Grudge style...

It's pretty dang awesome though.
