Hey Guys,
I´ve been following this forum since the release of l4d and i have finally managed to create an account.
I don´t know if this has ever been discussed here but i´d like to hear your oppion for a perfect starting setup as infected.
I´ve made a crappy drawing of NoMercy 1 to explain my setup.

Smoker starts on the roof of the connecting building, if somebody stays behind he tries to get him/Zoey. First Hunter stays next to smoker but shouldnt spawn until the smoker has got a target. So if survivors rush down he can pass through the closed door and follow them.

Boomer has to go down, he will try to puke on the first survivors comin down. If sobebody gets caught on the roof it will be much more difficult to help if the are blinded. Second hunter should try to get on of the first survivors, of course its best if to pounce sb who isnt blind.
If Survivors use the window Boomer and second hunter react to that.

This is only one possibility, but is has proven to work several times.
Do you have other succesfull setups or setups for other VS. maps.

Hehe. Sorry just had a moment of perfect timing there. I'd just finished reading:I´ve made a crappy drawing of NoMercy 1 to explain my setup and I started looking for the map and then it loaded onto the screen that very second. Annnyway.....

Yerah that sounds like a good basic plan, if you can get everyone to follow suite that is.

The way me and the clan 'sometimes' do it (and assuming the survivors take the stairs) is have the smoker on the stairs to spawn when the survivors have passed him and the 2 hunters and boomer behind the breakable wall in the second room. Everyone spawns when the survivors get into the second room, one hunter knocks the wall down and the boomer vomits over all the survivors. At that point both hunters attempt a leap (you're almost guarunteed to get at least one) and the smoker takes care of the one at the back from the stairs or the one that legs it to the roof.

This usualy incaps one and damages all the other 3 if it works well. Only had it twice so far where this took down the entire opposing team.

I should get paid for telling you that :D

I´m goin to try this, but you really have to attack together for that one.
And the Boomer can be shot through the wall so you really have to spawn when survivors are already in the second room.

When I start as a hunter there, I tend to jump down to the alley and spawn on the fire barrel. From there I jump/climb up the building and chase after the survivors. I might get there a bit later (usually by the time they start heading down that first interior stair case) but the fire is always worth it.

I usually try to hit the survivors with boomer puke at the top of the stairs (the first set not leading to the roof). If you can get your hunters to pounce immediately after, you can dish out a good 30+ points to those they hit, if you get lucky. The Smoker can spawn behind the survivors at the bottom of the roof stairs and drag off one of the non-pounced ones.

Most of the time a good first ambush seems to be more luck than skill, as there is such little time to prepare... unless you play with the same people regularly. In that case, skill starts to show.

Haha I really like the key; S = smoker, B = boomer and H = hunter. Nice drawing by the way (not sarcasm).

thank you fifty, i´ll show your post to my art teacher back in school, maybe he could consider changing my grade...

@Vapor: I think often it´s not only luck but if the survivors dont work together at the beginning you have a pretty good chance to inflict high damage. I have seen so many teams splitting up, because one of them jumped through the window or waited out on the roof and usually it ends with one or two of them on the ground.

So the first attack often can make a difference. In Nomercy 1 for example in my opinion there are 3 main attack points where you can do high damage. First the starting point, second the alley that leads to the road and at the subway entrance.
The last one often only works if the suvivors are slowed down by a hurt member, so you have to use your attacks before that.
This is all casual VS Mode where you dont really know anybody of the team - so if a team really works together it can do damage whereever it wants, even in a closet...

Assuming the other team is slow and on my side its all my clan, we can usualy get a good attack on the following:

- As they go down the stairs/through the skylight
- When they reach the bottom of the second set of stairs
- When they reach the hole
- Just before they reach the alley
- As they round the first corner of the alley
- As they are about to leave the alley
- One attack in the street
- Twice again in the street or just once if they go inside
- At the subway entrance with the car
- One last attack in the basement infront of the safehouse

...And any attacks of opportunity we see inbetween. You really have to work together from start to finish as infected though and always attack together, call when youre attacking and only got solo if you see an opportunity.
