Did I hear correct, when they said that this "new technology" like the soft shadowing would be back ported to HL2 etc.
Does that mean players with existing copies of just "HL2" will get that update via Steam?

Wow, the advisor's are a lot cooler than I first thought when I saw the one. Their power over physics objects could lead rise to some really interesting looking boss fight dynamics. But... why did it need an improvised wooden shield from bullets if it has telekinesis.

You did hear correct and I thought the exact same thing when I heard it.

I wonder then if that is indeed the case, if they would be re-compling the HL2 maps for HDR etc?

No, thats only for console versions last I heard. And he was talking about the console version when he said that.
I dont like the new blood effects, GRAW has good blood effects. I dont think just bloching more on even with the new technology made it look any better.
More excited for TF2 now

The source engine is modular, so any updates the the engine will probably be added to both versions, they are running on the same code base after all. Although I don't see why they would take the time to add HDR to the HL2 maps Salamander. I think he was referring more to general updates in the actual engine which would affect HL2 and EP1, like the dynamic flash light shadows. Although HL2 with HDR and any map dependant updates added to the engine from EP2 would be cool.

Yeah, I thought there was a little too much blood too. Unless that was just because it was a shotgun, but even so, it still seemed like too much.

I meant they wont go back to HL2 to add in rim-shading, HDR, dynamic shadows, soft particle effects etc. etc. for the PC version... last I heard, or read, or interpreted was that was going to happen witht he console versions.
