I was watching a coverage of QuakeCon07 on Gametrailers.com and something caught my attention. About half way through one of the survivors got swarmed by about 20 infected, whylst the other 3 were not even beigh touched. It seems as though the AI Director chose one survivor as a target and swarmed him, thusly takeing advantage of the "power in numbers" tactic. I was wondering was that just one incident, or if during your play time this happened a lot. I have played games with a concept similar to this, but it was too easy because the enemies would take each person on 3 at a time which was easy to control, instead of taking on one person with 20 which was a bit mor chaotic. The question I would like answered is if the Director will choose one survivor as a target, or will he just throw a few at each one? Thanks

I hope I explained this well enough, if not I can elaborate more.

We experienced this same thing a lot, and you can see it in many of the videos. I don't know how the Director chooses, it might be based on several different factors such as who is closest, who is lowest on health etc. All I know is that it happens when you don't want it to :D

To maximize chaos, it seems as though the AI director (and TRS employees playing as infected) will pick on one player in an attempt to isolate him/her.
More often than not though, it seems the people who got swarmed were either in the back of the group or in front and got caught off guard.

Targeting one individual was never mentioned in this context. It seems very plausible that it can be implemented because the Boomer's vomit triggers such an event. It's certainly very easy to have the AI director detect some sort of stress level and respond with a targeted attack.
At the same time, it always seemed that the zombies were charging towards the closest individual. I can't really say for sure.
