k I've been trying for a while to stream media from my PC to my 360. now I'll beit I'm not the best with tech but I know somewhat of what I am doing. I have tried all the trouble shooting and turned off firewalls (while I was dissconnected from the internet of course) but to no surprise I can't seem to get it to work. Has anyone else had this problem and or know how to fix it?

360 has to find the PC.
Is it Media Center or Vista?
Are you using a router or hub?
Do you have the right software installed?

If you got Vista then you're good.
So both are plugged into the router... I can't remember what I did after that...

haha well thats great help buddy. I thought for a while it had something to do with my norton being my firewall. so I put windows firewall up but it still didn't work so I played around with those settings. But I doubt firewalls are the problem since like I said I turned them all off. I don't know I can hook up to XBL fine but for some reason not my computer. oh and yes they are both plugged into the router

Well the router won't appear, you'll have to connect by MAYBE typing your IP address into the address bar of your internet thingy.
Von Beck
03-13-2009, 04:13 PM
hmmm didn't seem to work haha. why is it your the only one helping me? not that it's a bad thing that you are just curious

Alrighty then. Sounds like you need to configure your router.
In order to get to your router's settings page, go to your browser and enter "192.168.2.1" in the browser bar.
It may ask you for a password. You will use the one you previously set. If you did not set one, leave the user name blank and enter "admin" as the password.
Now you're in your router.
Look for something called "QoS". It stands for Quality of Service. Under the QoS you will need to enter your Xbox 360's Mac Address. If you don't know how to find the address, see below.
To find the MAC address of your Xbox 360:
1. Go to the "System" area of the Xbox Dashboard;
2. Select "Network Settings";
3. Select "Edit Settings.";
4. Select "Additional Settings";
5. Select "Advanced Settings";
6. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called "Wired MAC Address," which is your MAC address.
Enter the Mac Address in your router's settings and click Update.
Update me on what happens next and I'll go through some other steps you might wanna take.

No. Your router simply isn't allowing the Xbox 360 to connect. Try what I posted above. Tell me if you run into any problems too.
EDIT:
Woah woah woah...
Hang on one second. Does your xbox connect to the Network properly? Is it JUST the PC it doesn't find?

Von Beck
03-13-2009, 04:33 PM
do I type that in the web browser. or do I type that in when it asks for my password... because when I put that number in there it brings me to google and doesn't really give me anything..... could it be because I'm in canada?

When it asks for username and password, do admin-admin, I THINK. Maybe.
Von Beck
03-13-2009, 04:35 PM

how to connnect to your routers config:
- press windows key
- type cmd
- type ipconfig, it will show your network configuration
- take your ip and change the last number to 1 i.e. -> 192.168.0.1
normally routers are set up to use
192.168.0.1
192.168.1.1
192.168.2.1
account/ pws are:
admin admin
admin root
root root
stuff like that
Tho I dont have a 360 I believe it helps alot to have shared folders

1. Yes I am able to connect to Xbox Live
Ok, so you can connect to the network. The router shouldn't be the problem.
3. I have both so whatever one. I think I have windows media player 11. but to be safe lets just keep with windows media center
Ok, I wanted to make sure you weren't confusing Media Player with Media Center.
Follow these exact instructions:
1. Be sure your 360 isn't paired up with
any other PC. To do this, go to your 360 dashboard and browse to the System blade, then Computers. Disconnect from any computers listed there.
2. Boot your Windows Vista PC up and leave it sitting on the desktop.
3. On your 360, browse to the "Media Blade" and select "Windows Media Center". Alternatively, press the green MCE button if you have a remote.
4. You will be presented with an 8 digit number. Write it down or memorize it, and go back to your PC.
5. If you're in "Media Center", you should see the Window prompting you for the numbers. If you're not, then a pop-up balloon will appear from your system tray, near the clock.
6. Enter the numbers required, then set your options for folder sharing. Select the folders you have media in.
7. Let it do its thing. Once finished, it should automatically launch MCE on the 360.

If the Xbox can connect to the network, the router is doing it's job.
Remember, the PC and Xbox 360 must BOTH be connected to the router. I have a feeling you're just skipping a step.

I'm not though I go to the media center thing get the code go on my computer open media center enter it and let it do it's work because nothing else pops up bo I unno. but if they can both connect to the router but not each other. if I was messing somthing up don't you think my 360 would still be able to find my PC
