Well I'm assuming you're talking about Left 4 Dead so just check here:
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srte st (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest)

Select Left 4 Dead from the list and click "Can you run it?"
It will give you what you should upgrade (if anything).

Since your running Vista I'd suggest you get more RAM.

i can only max out at 1gb now cuz my 2nd ram slot broke. and i checked canyourunit.com, i always go thre and its barely passing required line. it says everything passes cept for cpu on the require tab. but it fully passes minimum but i just dont think its right.

so could ne1 tell me what settings? low/med/ possibly high with some mediums?

l4dfan

possibly low at a low resolution, if even that.

low at 800x600? how could that be i almost running ut3 maxed just fine

unreal tournament 3 doesn't throw hordes of zombies at you, and is rather well optimized. valve games are very cpu intensive, and you have a single core, right?

why not get the game and try it out? you'll almost definitely be able to play it at some level, so that's good enough.

should be fine on high or med settings try it out should work fine

ok i have a good graphics card, but will having a single core 2.40 ghz cpu and 1gb of ram vista bring me to low settings?

I'm going to say maybe. My gf has a laptop thats:

PoS gfx (i think its the integrated card, so its a REAL killer)
2 ghz single core
2 or 2.5 gb RAM
Vista

She can hardly play portal on lowest settings. And the thing freakin lags on boot up and sometimes on word processing. Vista is a resource hog like nobody's business and you just need more power to overcome Vista's uses and run another high resource user like gaming.

But since you have a decent card, that might bring you up to par for medium resolution and low settings.

well i play hl2, css, ut3, dods games maxed. tf2 on med and and bf2 on high with stutters. If i can remeber i downloaded the L4D demo a while ago and it ran alright without the hd 4670. I had same specs cept for geforce 6150se.

Like the guy said though, this game is throwing hordes of zombies at you and im just afraid my computer wont be able to handle all those things happening which may cause skipping since i have 1gb ram and 2.40 ghz cpu single core... I just dont know what to do

Although that is helpful, I wouldn't trust it 100%. I remember before I got L4D It said I didn't meet like half the standards and I was all bumbed, but I got it anyway and I run almost everything at very high settings and it's smooth as BUTTA!

possibly low at a low resolution, if even that.
He can play it with decent graphics but he would need to adjust it occordingly.

I think a friend of mine has a 4670, he can at least play Insurgency all high.

4670 should be REALLY good, at least for right now, it's on par with 9600 gt right?

Nevermind, my friend has 3670 sucks.

well ik my graphics are good enough, its just that my ram and cpu arent good enough.
i wanted to know how well it would run with a 2.40 single core processor and 1gb ram OS vista

darkmessiah

a 2.40 single core processor
Now that's a problem.

should be on on med settings if your CPU is like 2.8ghz it should be fine just turn off the stuff in the menu that says lower to improve CPU performance if u had a dual core u could get it to high have that in mind if u ever buy a new computer Dual core or better!

I've run this game on a 2ghz athalon 64 with a radeon 9800pro at 800x600 low settings. With a Gforce 6800GS I can go 1024x768 medium settings. Your system should run it fine.

I'm surprised on how long this model has lived.

A dual core CPU will give much better performance in newer game including L4D it will be the best thing to get for u right now

drach30
03-31-2009, 03:21 PM
ok was that cpu that i posted good? i think it is for the price range and considering i dont have mucho money and still need a new motherboard so i can have more than 1gb of ram

darkmessiah

right click on computer....properties>on the left side click on advanced system settigns>then click advanced tab>Click on the first tab below advanced>under visual effects tab click adjust for best performance, scroll 2 the bottom and check the box that says "use visual styles on windows and buttons".....will look mostly the same in vista and free up some ram...don't expect miracles with this tweak but it will help in your situation and like stated about get some budget ram off newegg!
