I'd clean it with the disc cleaner, It helped with my friends Gears of War.

On pc it means a graphics error (textures). I would clean the disk and make sure you Xbox isn't overheating.

The circular scratch that comes from the Xbox tipping is usually fatal for the disc, unless you can get a disc repair kit

Yeah, unless you can see the scratches on the top of the disc, cleaning it should help. If not, I'd sell F.E.A.R. and GoW for a new one.

That happened to my first copy so the next day I went straight to blockbuster and switched my disc for the rental disc and now i happy

Did you rent the game and then switched the discs or did you just ask them or something.

He rented the game and switched the discs

My cousin had a similar problem with a scratch. He installed the game to his x360 hard drive using a friend's disc and hasn't had any problems since.

i know exactly what happened... this happened to me as well. your laser in the disk tray scratched a perfect circle into your disk... on left 4 dead, that effects the graphics section. cleaning it will not help because it is a big scratch not a small one. with me i get the pink squares, rainbow graphics on walls and survivers, aand longer loading times. but the game is still playable. the question is can you live with it or do you want to buy a anew one

5gb? That's a lot! What are you going to use the rest for anyways?

that's actually quite a lot of free space after the fact, compared to me at least... i just had to delete my metallica album for guitar hero just to fit tales of vesperia on the hard drive. :(

Oh, laser scratches. Did you tip the box over while it was running or something? Either install, or get a new disk.

There may be another option.

Check the back of the manual. L4D is distributed by EA who (when they publish games at least) will replace the disk for a new one. That might apply for games they don't publish but do distribute.

But, dunno how long it would take and they will charge you "cost" (£10 for UK).
