How long from now on, do you think it will take to Make a 8900 Gtx Graphics card with the next generation of DX10? Will there even be a 8900 Gtx card ?

My brother says i should wait with buying the Graphics card cuz he says that when he bought his card the same card but slight improved got released for the same price and the card he used got like deleted from the world for ever and ever because it sounded to much and so on. So he thinks that if i buy this Card, 8900 will be released like 2 months after i bought 8800...so i say No that wont happen because he also said that Dx 10 is really really new and no one really know how to handle this ( The Makers of Dx 10 ) so i said Yes, as you said, Dx is new and no one can really handle it so do you really think that they will be able to make a 8900 Gtx with The next generation Dx 10 in 2 months ? And the 8800 Gtx with the existing Ver of DX 10 is enough to run Etc Crysis on atleast medium graphics if you got a good Processor and some Ram. So The 8800 Gtx will be good enough for atleast another Year. Am i wrong with this Argument ? Should i really wait until 8900 Gtx ? Or should i buy it after Crysis been released in hope for a price drop ?

Yo, I don't know what the fuck you just said little kid. But you're special.

8800GTX will own crysis.
The problem with what your brother is suggesting is that if you do what he says, you will NEVER buy a graphics card.
Lets say they do make an '8900GTX' a couple of months after its been released, they'll be rumours about how the new 9600GTX with dx10 gen2 software will totally make the 8900 obsolete, and to wait for the 9600. But then of course the 9750GTT will be released shortly after, so you should wait and get that....
Its a never ending cycle.
The 8800GTX is a GREAT card, 768mb Ram, dx10, loads of pipelines and nice fast core speed and memory, plus it can be overclocked a fair bit without having to alter voltages. if you buy it, you won't be dissapointed.

P.S Calling some1 a little kid and then speaking a load of bollox yourself just makes you look like a tit sandollor. Asking him to use paragraphs would of done the job....
As the gfx cards. I've got a Radeon x850 XT, had it a while now. And while it doesnt run games like Bioshock and some of the recent games available. But it runs games on the source engine just fine.
Next set of card should be 9 series like Tek said.. Probably at a ridiculous price ;)
Waiting till games like Crysis etc have been released and seeing what runs well at a reasonable price is how im gonna purchase my next card.

True.
Hell, I'm running an 8800GTS and it's the cat's ass. GTX is an absolute beast.
The jump from 7-series to 8-series was HUGE ... I'm not expecting the same amazing leap. I mean, a single 8800GTS outperforms the majority of the 7-series line SLI'd. That's massive. If the 9-series clowns the 8-series to the same degree, well, I'd be quite surprised. In fact, once the 2nd gen DX10 cards hit and the 1st gen cards drop in price, I'll prolly SLI my 8800GTS (assuming the 9-series isn't a freakish leap forward). Otherwise, I'd have to buy a new PSU w/ four PCI-E connectors, and probably turn to water cooling.

Tek summed it up nicely. You're always going to have that next great thing around the corner. It's impossible to stay on top so just enjoy having a nice high end card for a while.

He just wanted help, and it is not your place to be a dick. If you don't like what you see, skip that little reply box and move along. Please play nice and the forum will be a useful place for information or hanging out, rather than the typical "I'm better than you game" that forums often fall into.

Yeah sandollor, it didn't make much sense, although the beginning it was slightly to his intent it seems. But seriously, you dont understand what hes saying and everyone else does, so you come here bitching about yourself not able to comprehend? chasing your own tail much?
As for the card, nVidia has already gone for the 8800Ultra, personally thats the last of the 8800 series i think, perhaps an 8850? but that'd be weird. Im pretty sure a quick google would unravel a few points... but if your aiming to play crysis an 88GTS is fine.
CRYSIS DEMO OUT SEPT 25TH I THINK
oh yah, for the leaps in technology, i dont think there'll be a huge leap in 88 to 9x, 88 was pretty raw dx10, 9x will be more refined. Unless its already DX10.c and SM5...
Of course this is all under the assumption the ATI doesn't release like 4600, thats a chip you just put on your eye to play video games >.<
