View Full Version : Why the quick kick?

Whoever did this, I hope is reading. Because ignorance is the worst that you can do. For others, take it as a rant / message, I guess.

Yesterday, I hit up quick match and got inserted as a survivor in a NM game, and on the beginning of the first chapter as Francis. Once I loaded, I was standing on the top of the stairs and getting smacked by two infected. After killing and running down the stairs, I noticed that whoever was playing before didn't even take a kit or main weapon, so I walked up back the stairs to get it.

Meanwhile, the other 3 players were running through the apartments, one significantly ahead of the other 2. After doing a quick weapon grab, I turned to go back and one was pounced while the other (who was on the 2nd floor, the one right before you jump through the hole) was being dragged by a smoker.

The remaining survivor, however, stared at me while I ran down the stairs instead of going to save the others. Once he killed the hunter, they both stayed looking at me, and asking me what the hell I was doing. Somehow, they expected me to save the person who they were closer to, and they weren't in any danger.

To them, it was my fault for going back up to grab a primary weapon and kit. It was also my fault that one of them ran ahead and the other two stayed around instead of saving them. And I got kicked. I'm sure they got slaughtered.

On another note, one of the players healed me when I had 67 health left.

I don't think you're welcome at this forum anymore, you've been kicked.

That sounds so familiar. Weren't you the one that tried to stab me, and then threw me out of the bar, saying the exact same thing?

I've been kicked for just entering the game. Soon as I load in, I see the vote to kick me. I'd like to have an automatic get-back feature that would disable their accounts for a week.

It seem that the worse we beat a team down the faster the kicks come. When I play random games with ppl I don't know, I try and help them learn from whatever mistakes they might make (yes I do make my own mistakes. No I do not learn from them :P). It seems to help their playing more than kicking them. Or I'll just sit back and enjoy the slaughter. Point being, it seems the very worst players try and shift the blame onto someone else rather than try and improve themselves.

Just my 2 cents, but if you had to go back for your med pack and weapon, did you tell your team you had to go back or did you go solo? I'm going to be straight with you, if you go off like that and get pounced and make us go all the way back to the safe room losing map percentage without communicating, I'd have kicked you, too. That being said, pick up/public games are a total crap shoot. You're either with good people and wipe the competition, or you're with jackasses and get wiped. Play scrims. :)

Sarcastic laguna launches sarcasm attack against a comment that was sarcastic in the first place. Using sarcasm to fight sarcasm can show the latter poster as a person, who didn't actually understand the sarcasm of the first poster and therefor tried to be sarcastic towards a sarcastic comment, but that fails. But I like sarcasm.

I once got kicked for owning at Hunter. I used this method of jumping UPWARDS into the air and pray that I land on a survivor to deal more pounce damage. Most of the time, I get it, as I'm used to estimating. We were owning them so badly they decided to kick me.

I have a friend who's pretty much retarded on any game. When he first got L4d, we played versus against him and convinced him to...

1. Heal at 80.
2. 'Save' the 'survivor' (witch).
3. That he needed to improve so he can rank up then we can all work as a team to rank up from 34 (which we were apparantly at) to 35, because when you hit 35 you got to go against Valve.
4. You can deflate the boomer by shooting it close range.

Much lulz were had.

Aside from the instant kicks, the quickest kick I ever got was on NM4. Had just joined mid game and was trying to catch up when I got swarmed then pounced because they hit the elevator button before I got all the way to them. Called me a newb and kicked me.. boohooo hehe. Sorry just needed to rant. :)

Yes, all you get nowadays on XBOX LIVE are, listed by probability:

1. 65%- Squeakers and little kids who shouldn't be playing
2. 30%- Assholes who think they own this game, have invisible rules, and kick you (see above)
3. 5%- People who are cool and actually want to have fun and are nice, I managed to get ONE server full of people like this, and I got 6 friends out of it. Played with them ever since.

So, yes, no more pubs. Unless you go and find the people who kicked, pwn them, them laugh manaically while you jump off the building and leave the game.

Revenge should be taken on those kind of people.

I started playing a game with a girl( I am not that kind of guy who hits on them, or anything like that and totaly respect their ability to play) anyways, this girl had a little 8 year old stalker, he was sending her messages, and when he joined the game, he wsa screaming about his love for her... LOL ... We had to boot him and make it a closed party.

Last week I jump into a game. I'm Smoker. I quickly assess the situation and take up a position I predict will be a good one (though it is in an odd place from the perspective of the others, I guess).

Suddenly one of the players starts SCREAMING at me: "Smoker! WTF are you doing?!?! Get over here!!!"

The Boomer pukes on the Survivors, I pull one of them out and actually kill them.

Game continues. Me (as Smoker), still alive and moving to a new spot.

(sounding rather guilty) "Hey Smoker. Good job." (This said by a guy who has several hundred points less than me).

It's one thing to get angry and/or kick a player for running off or standing still or completely missing the point... It's another when you really should be paying closer attention to your own actions.

SILENCE!!! the secret of vertical leap must stay secret!!!

i will admit its fun jumping back and forth over a lone survivor who cannot seem to aim at the spot I'm going to land, then jump straight up and land a 3-5 point pounce.

on topic-ish - kicked for joining a vs server (4 vs me) that had the cvar to allow an all bot team. when the survivors realised that the infected were acting too smart got kicked... they can tweak the server to allow them to play vs but with one team, but cant keep it private?

Sadly, thats most of the way it goes. I have alot of female friends, and I love to joke around, but I keep it sane. But you will not believe the mass amount of pervs I normally have to kick simply to keep playing. It's pathetic really. I had this guy continue to join a game of mine, asking a friend of mine for nude pics about three times each time before he was kicked. I filed a complaint with microsoft, and he got his account deleted. It's still horrible, and thats why my wife only plays with me split screen on the 360 version. She doesn't even trust my friends enough to play with them. Oh well, her choice I suppose.

This is a classic example of lack of leadership. You first indication is that they didn't realise or care that you were loading in. Good players will be mindful of the fact that they have an AI that can be taken over by a person at any moment. The right thing to do is wait and cover until they are done loading. (http://www.left4dead411.com/forums/index.php?acti on=vthread&forum=7&topic=10440) Granted most pub games with random people will lack leadership. I guess it's more about the expectations of the other players. Building a team takes time. Everyone knows what everyone else is doing. To expect a well oiled machine out of a random assortment of ppl is just absurd. It seems like you were doing your best to manage the crises going on around you. I would suggest taking a leadership role next time. It can take a gentle touch in pub games. But if you do it right the other ppl will realise that you have the teams best interest in mind. And if they kick you for that FUCK EM'!!! You'll be better off in another game anyway.

We have a few girls on our team. When I talk to them about their online experience it is for the most part positive. Obviously having a girl on your team opens up a whole new world of wise cracks (tuna sandwich in stead of tea bagging is my personal fave). We never intentionally cross the proverbial line though. What I have learned playing with girls (lots play L4D) is that they know they are in a mostly male dominated world. They just sort of block out the negativity and focus on the positive. And for the most part their gaming experience isn't hurt by the assholes anymore than any other male player. Even if they have to put up with more of it than us guys. Keep on gaming girls we love having you around!!!!!!!!

I play with a regular group of 3 guys but occasionally one of us has other responsibilities (work, family, actual zombie killing). We take it pretty seriously and don't lose. Ever. When running with 3 regulars and hoping we get a random good player with a MIC we kick a lot of people. We immediately kick anyone without a mic. Otherwise we're pretty tolerant unless a player really screws up, such a running ahead solo or setting us on fire, or other counteractive activities. Our general rule we tell people is keep up and take notes.

For those getting kicked I would first recommend start talking as soon as you enter the game. Introduce yourself and get up to speed with where your team is. If you don't have a mic you shouldn't be playing this game. Secondly, go with the flow. Work as a team and realize even if you know a better, democracy rules. And lastly if you want to avoid getting kicked, don't do a quick match. Join a lobby and start with a team. Then you can be the one kicking randoms instead of the other way around.

there is a solution to all of these problems. everybody has to realize that it is just a game. once everybody does that the game will become more :) and less of >:( only problem is you have to get all of the little kids and douches to do it to

When people say keep up and take notes.
i think that there terrible and use quesstionable tactics. problem is... im usually right. so dont say that in the futureOtherwise we're pretty tolerant unless a player really screws up, such a running ahead solo or setting us on fire, or other counteractive activities.
that isn't tolerant. if someone sucks at the game... you shouldn't boot them but endure and have fun. We immediately kick anyone without a mic
your right on there i totally agree with that

Whenever my group of friends quick-kicks someone, it's usually because the 4th person was disconnected for some reason or another and we're trying to keep the spot open for them to re-join.

So, sorry if any of you were unfortunate enough to be one of those quick-kicked from our group ><
