I am building a comp for someone at work cause when I saw the shitter dell\HP he was going to get I was screaming HELL NO! (just tower)

key word here is budget...comments like why aren't you getting a 4870x2? make no sense here......just a thought

1. intel core 2 duo E8400 gotta love that beefy cache and overclocking headroom

2. Seagate barracuda 7200 rpm 16mb cache Hard drive sata 2

3. Msi 4830 512mb 256-bit pci-2.0 gfx card (woot!! free vegas 2 game)

4.sony optical dvd\cd burner

5. rosewill 550w psu (I know your thinking Rosewill wtf?) but this psu has active pfc, 80%+ effecient and a 41 amp 12v rail reviews also back-up the numbers + it's only $55......downside no sleeved cables :(

6. 2x2gb g.skill ddr2 800 ram.....ULTRA budget no heatspreaders! this is a first for me! LOL

7. ASrock P43 Twins 1600 socket 775 motherboard...LAN,audio,6+usb ports,e-sata...all the usual goodies. (I am a little worried about the asrock brand name though) but the feature set is really rich and the p43 chipset kicks ass 4 overclocking

8. 2 IPC queen 80cfm 120mm fans

9. Buyer is gonna get case..... fingers crossed

I think this build has a lot of room for expansion....down the road a better gfx card maybe a yorkfield.....the guy im building it for really just wants to play l4d and other games at decent settings....but wouldn't go much higher on the vid card....wanted to talk him in to gtx 9800+ !!

COST???? 578.81 SHIPPED...... Que the "I can build a better comp for 200 bucks comments!" LOL!

edit:
case deal? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147068)

610.97 is the total now

I have not done the work for you, but you can check websites like buyxg.com (http://www.buyxg.com/) or cyberpowerpc.com (http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/) to see if you can build a comparable rig for less. You never know.

i would get a 9800GT or a HD4850 you can find them close to the same price at about 100-150$

Srock P43 Twins 1600 socket 775 motherboard...LAN,audio,6+usb ports,e-sata...all the usual goodies. (I am a little worried about the asrock brand name though) but the feature set is really rich and the p43 chipset kicks ass 4 overclocking

never even seen that brand on the net i would get a name brand mobo its needs to be a a good mobo since its the backbone of of a good PC

other then that it looks fine for a budget PC but for pure budget i would have gone with AMD.

ASrock

I actually bought a couple of ASrock motherboards a while back and have not had any issues at all with them - they were just over $50 each lol

Since buying them I have heard good things about them ...

One of my motherboards is running my server and the other my linux box :-)

You can go for a name brand if you want - but I agree with Goldkills about going with AMD if you are on a budget ... when I bought my two ASrock boards i got two 45w AMD 2.2Ghz Dual Cores for less than $100 each if I remember correctly - and they were a little more expensive because they had a lower TDP ...

ya I know newegg has the phenom 2 x3 on a combo deal bundled with the ati 4850...for 15 bucks less!....the x3 and the e8400 are very close 2 each other in performance and same goes with the 4850 and 4830...after reading a decent reviews I was really surprised!

He wants to go "American" so thats why he insists on Intel over amd...and it's costing him......
