My css won't work it keeps crashing and its started to really get to me now.

i have a decent pc and always keep it updated with graphics drivers, sercurity updates etc etc but for some reason my css has started crashing.

i always get one of 2 messages come up

1. normal windows window says HL2.exe application error with debug or send error report at the bottom (clicking both do nothing)

2. warning box says, HL2.exe application error tried to ref memory at "blah blah" memory could not be red

i have looked through steam forums for awnsers but cant find anything. Ive tried re installing steam and css and still nothing

From the last time you played it, what changes did you make? Any driver updates at all?
Installed any new programs?

Memory could not be read... could be possible RAM failure. How much RAM do you have? Try turning the computer off, taking one of the RAM sticks out, rebooting and running CSS.

If you still get the message, put that chip back in and take the other one out.

Try copy/paste the error message exactly if you can.

Take the 1gig stick out and try it, then take both the 512mb sticks out and put the 1gig one back in.

See if there's any change.

Surprisingly enough I have gotten those errors before and it ended up being a network problem. Are you using a router or a switch and if so, what brand are they?

Great for getting rid of spyware.

Crap cleaner - Awesome for cleaning up your hard disk and your registry. I use this twice a week.

Its possible that you have RAM failure. If random apps. keep shutting down then it is most likely the result of RAM failure. To be sure, use a memory checker. Search it with google.

Ooh man are you hooped. This happened to me AND my friend for CS:S and Gmod, the only way we could fix it was to reformat. Fortunately for us, we needed to do that anyway. That is the only 100% guaranteed fix to this problem, but some people have fixed it by downloading the newest DX drivers or drivers for their video card. It may also have something to do with a virus, as my computer had a few. It sucks because Valve has no answer to it. I have also heard the RAM error but don't buy into it because that would most likely show up in other places and or not be fixed by reformatting.
