Dont you need the entire ring to be red for an rrod? You may want to check your cables/power supply. Your info is on your HD and thats removable. So I doubt youll lose anything. Id suggest send it to Microsoft rather than getting someone else to fix it.

yeah thats what i was hoping to but i read on wikepedia 4 flashing rings means check cables but 3 means internal failure but I guess you all are correct I will look into sending it away sucks though.

3 red rings can be anything. Ive only gotten the 3 rings once and it was an E74 error.

Anyway Microsoft charges 99 bucks to fix unwarranted 360s.

Yeah, it's a goner.

4 red rings means over heating, 3 red rings means some sort of irrepairable internal damage. Same thing happened to me, but it was the E73 error, E74's retarded cousin.

TO FIX IT:
If you want it done properly, send it to microsoft. In Canada, you call them up and they email you a shipping sticker. Print it, and bring it and the xbox to FedEx (or UPS? Can't remember). FedEx will take care of the rest, and in a few weeks they will send you a new xbox360.

IMPORTANT: KEEP YOUR HDD!!! You WILL need to go on microsoft's website to change your XBL account to the new system, and you WILL need to re-download anything you had previously downloaded, but you WON'T be charged again.

At least, that's how it worked with mine. The USA is probably similar.

Check out this (http://www.left4dead411.com/forums/index.php?action=vthread&forum=7&topic=8576&page=0) thread for more info. (About half a page down tsk, tsk.)
