I got to the post office today while my mom was dropping off stuff (she doesn't think I should drive and I agree with the pain medications and my wisdoms). So there was some police car getting serviced at an auto shop across the street. They have to keep the radio on all the time because they could be needed at any moment. Then I thought it would be cool if you could hear radio chatter on the police vehicles in L4D! They should have flashing lights too (think that's in the game though). Maybe infected smashing and clawing their way out of the back of the cruiser where they keep people too (cruiser bouncing around while they try to escape). This could all be added in a mod but I think it would add to the tension to the game. Just imagine hearing police HQ getting invaded and telling the rest where to meet up on the radio chatter. :-)

It would be, in my opinion, infinitely more eerie if you didn't hear anything but static and an extremely occasional burst of clarity where it homes in on a signal and you hear the spine-tingling sound of ....

something

I guess you won't hear chatter cause there are only 4 people left in the hole town ... or maybe not (pointing at updates/addons 2008 and 2009) ...

I guess you won't hear chatter cause there are only 4 people left in the hole townThat was pretty much my idea, too.

It would be much more atmospheric if you felt completely isolated from surviving humans and less so if you could feel them within radio distance.

Then who rescues them? There are more people that didn't get infected.

Too true. But my guess is the people who rescue them are from another city, or from the army outside of the city.

So the army outside the city starts broadcasting on radios! They happen to pick up on a police cruiser.

Well being that the game is fast paced... you really wouldn't have time to sit and listen to any of the chatter for more than five seconds... I'd be more worried about hitting the shotgun release and grabbing some extra shells. :)

It's certainly possible, but it wouldn't do anything to heighten the atmosphere of being alone and at the edge of destruction; it would be more of a life-line feeling you get from it.

I'd prefer plain static or some sort of downright unnerving sounds.

Only 14 minutes. Nicely done, Plankie and sandollor. Safe bet that someone on this forum would know. =)
