Can some one tell me if there going to patch something about rushing because whats the point in playing vs if some ones going to rush all the time it makes the game not fun any more i mean when its tank time thay just run around him. And if there not going to patch it then what are good tips to stoping it.

So basically you're saying Valve should make a patch to stop Survivors from trying to win in Vs?

LOL I think that is what he is asking.

I agree - a patch won't solve much. Best solution if you've got a rusher is let them run. They can't make it to the saferoom on their own, the zombies will slow them down, and they're probably get pounced or smoked before they get there - and when they scream for help go "I can't hear you! You're so far away!"

well rushing isnt the only way to win vs work as a team thats how l4d works. But eveytime a person rushes thay leave a teammate behind i know the game is called left 4 dead but i know thats not what it means.

All you have to do is plan attacks ahead of them, if your team is incapable of doing that, then you deserve to lose.

It's ironic, Valve nerfs the survivors to what could be considered fodder, but yet people still complain about the littlest things, get skill.

Jeff, I am disappointed to share the same name with you. Not only would this break the game, but it would take all fun away from it. What would you do, not be able to run? What the fuck are you thinking?

I think he's talking about when a whole team rushes through the level. In that case you just gotta kill them faster.

I feel your pain. I wish Rushing (commonly referred to as Speed-Running) wasn't a "Legit Strategy" but it is. So we have to learn to deal with it.

The only thing that pisses me off is if a team all have good connections/low ping they can get out of the safe room and run the first 1/3 of the map before all of the special infected even have a chance to spawn. I know that the first special infected can spawn after 5 seconds or so, but we all know going in without your teammates usually fails. The survivors should not be able to open the safe room door until all of the infected players are in spawn mode.

Thats a good point. Although, I rarely play against a team that speed rushes.

Did you really just make this thread...?
My god your stupid.
Thanks for not contributing to this discussion in any way.

the infected should spawn in front of the survivors, that normally slows them down.

Well they added mini crescendo events to stop this from happening in the first place. And if you can't kill them during this time then oh well.

it seems he just wants a survival game mode that still has the running-around left 4 dead has and still lets players be the specials.
You could have nonlinear maps like this with various barricading materials around and the usual randomly placed weapons and items.
I'd like this too actually.
As for versus...
RUSH OR DIIIIIEEE!!!! I like rushing in versus, we just need a survival game mode now, maybe in an update... maybe even in april... maybe.....

true but when a person rushes it doesnt give the game enough time to spawn the normal infected.

The most advice I can give is to assign one or two people to stay roughly past the halfway point, that's usually where most groups get divided.

A big problem is when 2 survivors get left behind, and 2 other ones are dashing ahead. The special infected will be back with the other two while the Director doesn't give any of the front survivors infected because it has all it's infected spawned back at the other survivors. *gasps for air*
If you understood that.

Its annoying sometimes but you need to strategize ahead and take out the front 1 or 2 then move to the back. Thus you wouldn't have the problem On3 or whatever the fuck his name is has.
The only thing that pisses me off is when the front rushers don't help pounced/smoked/downed teamates while I'm playing survivor.
Those dumbasses need to know that the score is HIGHER when more make it to the safe room. Idiots that run oblivious to their teamates can cause your team to lose. Most rushers suck ass IMO but you do come across some like me that still make it with every person.

Oh well, sometimes we rush just for the variety, because playing it the "normal" way can get boring. Our teamplay is pretty good, so as soon as someone rushes we tell each other and someone takes care of it! We are very eager to stop rushers ;)

They kind of did already, whenever I rush (for the hell of it...) I get a horde on my ass and I used to make it without hordes spawning... XD

The only solution for a patch I can think of is that there should be a time limit to the safe room. Like the finales or the one with the church guy who rings the bell.

I think rushing is fine, but have the director spawn zombies not at the highest concentration of survivors, but the one in front.
Still if the rusher is competent (I always have my team race if we do well on the first level) and uses a shotgun like I do they will have no problem so a patch wont solve much.

Rushing is what you're suppose to do in versus. the bosses spawn every 20 seconds so every second counts. Rushing is the best strategy.
You can set tanks on fire and run by them so they aren't even a problem.

If I'm on the survivor team, I don't really care when people on my team rush, as long as we are all in it together.
One time my whole team was rushing but the one at the back of the group got caught up by a Smoker... so I went to save them, when we got going we saw that the other 2 didn't even wait, they kept going to the elevator, stacked up behind the table, and started the panic event while we were just coming up to enter the first hallway leading to the elevator... of course they didn't make it very far after that...
My point? The nature of the game already discourages rushers, no need to take it any farther.

Having played Left 4 Dead for four months now I've gotten over the fact of speedrunning. I just stopped caring.

Rushing can easily be countered with a good team, so mabey this thread says more about you than about the rushers.
Also, remember, both teams are given equal chance to win, so if they rush you can just rush as well. The objective of the infected isn't always to stop them completely, but to whittle down all their potential points in order to give you the lead.

Speed rushing is a legitimate tactic.
Outrunning the AI director is an EXPLOIT and needs to be fixed.
It's frustrating as an infected Boomer to recognize the speed run, get ahead of the Survivors , puke on them, and not have any zombies show up because the Survivors outran the Director.
Being able to outrun the Director is an obvious and glaring technical issue.
Once, just for kicks, I speed rushed to the safe room and left all of my team behind then I went back to get them. On my initial run, the entire way was free of zombies because I outran the Director, the second time through the area the Director spawned a witch in our path.
