My Internets are Sucking

Recently my internet just started slowing down dramatically. I've been trying to play ZM and CSS but my latency is never under 100 and when its actually around there, it's only for a few seconds. Most of the time its in the 1000s and sometimes the 2000s. My friend up the street has the same ISP and he says it's been slowing down for him to. When he plays World of Warcraft he says his latency is around 2000 also.
I've restarted my modem about a dozen times, tried connecting my computer directly to it, did a bunch of virus/spyware/adware scans, and still I'm getting a slow connection.
I called my ISP and the person told me to do a speed test at speakeasy.net and I get a download speed of 10701kbps and upload speed of 1549kbps. The guy thought it was normal and said that it's other people's slow connections on the server that are causing me to lag, but their latencies are below 100.
So can anyone tell me what the real problem is?

haha hmmm I had the same problem too. have you checked any add-ons that you probably got on your explorer? Cause if you got a lot of them that werent even allowed by your system, then thats whats holding you back.
If add-ons arent your problem..........

well who is your ISP? i think u should take it up with them m8. If u are with virgin good luck because the chance's of speaking to an english person are very slim lol

is zombie master any good, im thinking about installing it.

when i download the 1.1.2 "full" install do i need to install the 1.1.3 patch after?

I have Cox I don't know if anyone has heard of them but they're the best service pretty much around where I live.

And you do the full install and then install the patch.

it's an isp issue, your ul/dl have nothing todo with you latency *well possible a very small fraction* its usually how fast your isp connects to the server... it happens to me often, ill be getting 200-300ms on a uk server, then just to download a file at 800kbps.

but it is an isp issue, try a different provider

I never had a ping that high, nor have I ever heard of Cox. I'd switch to a different ISP, one that is more well-known such as Rogers or others.

And pretty much where I live our choices for internet are Cox Communications, Verizon, AOL, and Earthlink I think. So I've never heard of any of YOUR ISPs. So BLAH.

Just because it has not been mentioned yet: If you are using WLAN, make sure your connection is as safe as possible, because people in your neighbourhood could be piggybacking on your network. ;)
