So basically, I want to do it to my AMD 3500+ 2.2Ghz processor, but I have no idea how. How far can I go safely with like 3 fans and a CPU fan? How do I do it? What software do I need? Please, I want to overclock because it's a great way to boost yer comp. Thanks guys.

Yo do it through you your system BIOS, don't overclock your cpu unless you know what your doing, make sure you have a decent CPU fan and it's able to be overclocked

For example, when I upgraded my cpu it was either getting a e6600 or a e6700 which is like 200 dollars more, so overcourse I got the e6600 and a cpu fan for 100, and I overclocked pass the e6700, now AMD processors are not good for overclocking so you have a little chance of getting anything noticable out of it, BTW overclocking voids warrenty.

When you say "now AMD processors", do you mean the new ones because I have one (3500+) which is supposedly an ok overclock'r, it's 2.2Ghz but I've heard people getting it up to about 2.6Ghz with a standard fan. Any good safe way to do this? I'm thinking that as my computer has 4+ fans and the CPU fan I might want to overclock as high as 2.8Ghz. Is this safe? What type of fan would I need to push it to 3Ghz? And heh heh my friend gave me his old 3500+ and we joke about testing it's limits till it fries than setting mine just under that. That's a bad idea though, so I won't be doing that. Any good Intel Dual core socket 939's?

You need a half decent motherboard that allows you to change the multiplier, the FSB, HTT etc.

I overclocked my old athlon 3200 (2ghz) to a stable 2.6ghz, took a bit of trial and error but was a good performance hit.

You have to be wary of temps though, as they can be the killer.

Overclocking your CPU is far more complicated than your graphics card, its not a case of downloading a program and moving a slider bar.
Best bet is google search 'amd 3500 overclocking' and having a damn good read through of whats involved.
If you still want to do it, I'll do my best to help.
