Hi.
I have a problem with the graphic in my games, I think it's every game, f.ex. this is how it looks in Half-Life 2 Main Menu: http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu231/thingthingsuman/background020000.jpg
Though it "usually" covers everything.
This happened after I tried to change my monitor DVI cable because I thought that was the reason my monitor went black when I'd played Crysis or Assassin's Creed for 5 min, I don't know if the driver stopped working, anyways when I then played Crysis with the other DVI cable I played without errors, I thought, but after 5 min the screen went *click* and my whole computer and monitor freezed, I restarted and started HL2 Episode one, no screen after it loaded, started joblist and quitted, tried HL2 and the above image was shown, same with Dark Messiah: Might and Magic, though not Team Fortress 2, so the 2 problems I have is: Why do my screen go black after I play those really graphic craving games (obvious) for 5 min, though as I said this time it went *click* and then the above image happened but I've changed my DVI cable to the original one, and number 2: Above image after *click*
Sorry for repeating myself many times, thanks in advance if anyone can help me ASAP.

Sky effects are pretty cool, I wish the water would reflect more of it.

Can you help instead of saying how cool it is lol, I can't play with it like that.

do you have EVGA Precision? You can check if your GPU is overheating. Also, did you reinstall your drivers?
Oh cool, I think I see g-man.

I don't have EVGA Precision but I could try reinstalling my drivers, here goes me = noob, should I uninstall them through add/delete programs or what it is called and then download and install them again?

I just install the next one, I'm a noob at rollbacks and shit, but you probably haven't downloaded the most up-to-date driver anyway, 182.50? I think.
Right now, I have 185.66, but that's beta.
Suman

Well I have the 185.66 beta too so I don't know what the problem is, I'll try to re-install the drivers for image problem but I still need help for nr. 1...
Edit: OMG I just got the blue screen of death because I tried to uninstall my Nvidia Drivers.... I'll run a Full Virus Scan just in case.

yes, i would suggest uninstalling the driver first then installing the new one. Installing ontop of eachother does not always work. Another question would be does it do this for every monitor? What temp is your gpu idle and under duress?
edit: In the case its not viral, it sounds like you have a driver problem with that kinda message.

I've used Systemregeneration to yesterday and now it works well, though now my driver version is also 182.06, I wonder if that was the reason, anyways I'll update to the newest driver and see if it works out well BUT! I STILL need help with my 1st problem, screen goes black after AC/C for 5 min.

Try it with the new driver and see what happens. Also, I am still waiting on GPU temps (idle and under strain)

Umm... What new driver?
The Newest up-to-date driver or the beta version of a newer one?

no, for drivers I do not suggest beta versions. They are in beta for a reason. First try latest stable driver to see if you have problems. Always a first good control so you know if its you and not because of bugs still in beta version of driver.
Does the screen go black after a consistent time period or after a certain action. Basically, can you cause it to go black. When the screen goes black, can you recover it without reboot? What does your computer do when the screen goes black.
edit: You said something about clicks and freezes, but it is hard to separate your two problems in your wall of text, so sorry if you already mentioned this above.

Yes...
The driver is not the reason for my image above I think, that happened after I changed my DVI monitor cable and played Crysis and it freezed and image happened.
The screen goes black after a time period as far as I can tell, when I start a new game in Crysis it goes black at almost the same time played, I can't recover the screen without reboot, my computer does nothing, only my monitor goes black and it says: "No Signal"

Does this black screen occur during any other games or just Crysis and Assassins Creed?
What settings are you playing these games on?
What graphics card do you use?
What temp does it idle at?
what temp is it while playing graphics intensive games?
Have you tried unplugging and replugging the cable when it occurs?

No
I think almost highest at both of them
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2
I have no idea... How do I find out?
I have no idea... How do I find out?
I don't think so, I'll try it next time it happens.

Wow, 9800 GX2? Nice.
Is it EVGA?

ok it looks like its over heating use something like rivia tuner to find what the 2gpus temps are but is the card overclocked at all? did u try the card on a diff computer?

Vendor for your card.
BFG
EVGA
... what else...
PNY
Diamond, I think...

So no to #1 means no, not other games or no, not just C/AC, but all games?
ok it looks like its over heating
That was also my first guess. It doesn't appear to be your power supply since the whole computer doesnt turn off.
The three things im going to assume the cause is one of is:
1. Bad monitor
2. Bad cable
3. Overheating/fried GPU

It's only Crysis and Assassin's Creed that it goes black on, as of your 3 things Darkness, I don't think the bad monitor but I tried a different cable as said and then it worked, but instead of going black it freezed, so maybe it is the cable, or it could be nr. 3.

I don't know what overclocked is and I don't know if it is., and no.
Edit: I'm gonna try the other cable I have and see if it goes black, freezes or works just fine.
I'll give you a report.

I don't know what overclocked is
/hardcore facepalm...
Well, overclocking is adding more juice to your video card, and if you don't know that that is, I doubt you have overclocked you videocard, just check your drivers, and see if your videocard is overheating, get a program that checks that. Also check your videocard itself, might have broken.

Indeed.
it could be nr. 3.
What is that?
Other thoughts:
Is your computer currently plugged into a surge suppressor and has your computer always been plugged into a surge suppressor?
Is your graphics card sufficiently plugged in to the motherboard (they sometimes come loose)
Can you play L4D on highest settings no problem and other new games on highest settings without problems?

Your number 3 option...
I don't know
I don't know
Well strange thing is my screen went black while playing Left 4 Dead some hours ago, plus my computer freezed :O
So I'm beginning to believe it has something to do with the GPU or something's broken.
Anyways, I'm going on vacation so I won't be able until Sunday, this Sunday, so bye, thanks for all the help so far and I'll check back on Sunday, bye.

Open your comp up, remove the GPU, and put it back in firmly to make sure it is making good contact.
Is your computer plugged directly into a wall socket or a power strip?

heres a suggestion, if your running a gx2, try turning off the sli and see if that has any effects, alot of games still glitches and freezes when it comes down to the sli aspect. Plus your gx2 might be overheating due to the two gpu on one card build. GX2s are notorious for running like Mt. St. Hellens during eruption, so I would also check with cooling for your case, are there enough fans keeping the air flowing? it could be a number of factors, if your GPU is fried, EVGA does have lifetime warranty on their products so you might just need to get it replaced. Hope that helps.
