Saw 4 looks okay with the two dudes, one guy with his eyes sewn shut and the other with his mouth sewn shut. When I saw all the blood gushing from his mouth when he ripped the stitches it made me barf in my mouth.

Nah. That term (torture porn) has been widely used for a while now (mainly since the first SAW) to describe these types of movies the past few years in just about every media/film corner there is. From movie reviewers, to horror film mags & websites, to newspapers... you name it. Not my term, "theirs". Though I do feel it's an apt label.

That said, even though I don't personally like those kinds of movies, I surely don't pass judgment on those who do. It's all good. If you like 'em, cool. Rock on, I say! :)

Most people (I would assume most people) enjoy the concept of Saw moreso than the torture aspect. Saw 1 is impressive. Saw 2 is crap. Saw 3 is actually a well written, clever film. The torture is a means to an end, for the character of Jigsaw. I don't grin and sport a chubby while I watch a woman fish for a key in a bucket of acid, I grimace and root for her to pull through, and wonder how I would fare in a similar situation ... it's an interesting dynamic, and nothing akin to a snuff film, as suggested by "torture porn". At least, that's how I see it.

I LOVE horror movies, and this one is nothing more than pointless gore with a mediocre story. I don't think they make movies as good as they use to. Movies like George Romero's, Salem's Lot, The Exorcist. Those weren't dependent on gratuitous amounts of gore like every new movie that has come out in the past few years. I'll admit, I did enjoy Saw, but I thought, "theres no way they can make more." Obviously I was wrong. They shoulda stopped. 30 Days of Night gives me hope for a classic story and a good scare. Completely agree. These new torture movies go more for shock value than anything else. They don't make you actually think much (except Saw I,) you just sit their, slowly desensitizing, contorting at the more horrific images.

I myself prefer something with some thought put into the plot and less utterly pointless, mindless and extremely disturbing violence. I guess I'm just old school that way...

pardon me but F U ALL who apose the greatness that is saw. I've gone to the midnight of SAW 2 and SAW 3.....and the stories are good (not as much first), the situations or traps or whatever u want to call them are awesome, and it's amazing that EACH AND EVERY one had a twist at the end that BLOWS UR MIND and u don't see coming and when it happens and the theme music starts going it's priceless. the only other thing that can match it is Bioshock's ending (which was ruined for me...pointless gore

and I think the movie ur thinking about for that is HOSTEL 1 and 2....now that is pointless gore with no story line...trust me I see everything i'm a movie buff....

Actually Chucky and Nightmare on Elm Street/ sequels were actually horror movies, they were actually scarey. Saw goes for more shock value than anything, it has its twists and whatever, don't get me wrong. (The son being in the safe all that time was brilliant) but in terms of scariness, Chucky and Freddy>>>Jigsaw and that emo chick. Pretty sure the original chucky, I forgot its name now, made me shit my pants. Think I watched it when I was 10 to 12 and I changed the channel every two seconds to slap myself or change my underwear.

Hostel is pretty much "Torture porn" except reversed, because the porn comes before the torture. Movie was gnarly, whoever comes up with this shit is messed the fuck up, the asian chick with the eye almost made me squeemish. Unfortunately I don't sympathize for idiot characters.

BioShocks ending wasnt anything special... and I mean the REAL ending... I dont think there were any surprises left at the ending. ENDING.

Nothing confusing storyline till bout the last 10 minutes it's a "WTF?"....but I like how the saw movies somehow all tie 2gether, not like other horror movies where it's completley new random characters every time....OH YES, THERE WAS BLOOD!!
