View Full Version : Reversed Campaigns (aka, maps are backwards)

I was just thinking that with a moderate amount of tweaking any of the campaigns could be made into a version where you're estentially running backwards through the campaign.

A number of spots would have to have some method(s) of getting up added in.

Almost all of the crescendos would have to be revamped.

And the finale and starting areas would need the most tweaking of all.

The finale areas would really just need more obstacles (buildings & rubble & junk, Oh My!) added in to give them a bit more length to make them into suitable starting areas.

The starting areas would need a near complete revamping, except in the case of The Apartments, which would mostly just need to be made a bit more open.

Honestly, The Apartments had better be a survival map...but still, as a Finale they'd rock.

With the SDK, this probly would not be a problem at all. Might be fun, I dunno, well see how it goes I guess lol.

This is a project that I think could be handled by a small team of experienced people in a couple months.

NM finale is already on a roof.

The Dead Air Finale would be awkward since there is only one door to get in and out of the greenhouse.

No one ever said it was logical... its a game, looking for fun...

Its the same with all the campaigns.
No Mercy: Lets escape from a helicopter to run back to the roof of a building.
Dead Air: Lets run away from a plane, through an airport (instead of just jumping the fence around the runway).
Blood Harvest: Lets run away from an army APC towards farmland.

Sounds fun to me. Of course, the first big horde would get me turned around and I'd end up going the normal direction. I can definitely see that happening! =P

I remember a cheat you unlocked on Uncharted called Mirror Mode. It essentially made a mirror version of the entire game - helps keep things fresh and keeps you on your toes:

e.g.
"Oh I remember this bit, I just go to the left and jump here-"

*Jumps opposite side off cliff*

I just realized this but.. aren't there some parts of the game where you can't go the opposite direction, such as the roof on NM finale where you are screwed if you are the last one up there and a hunter or smoker gets you, and on BH, the part where you jump down into the corn fields...?

most mods that take years can be done in months but this would only requiring switching places of things.

Oooh, i would love to do this. If only I weren't already busy mapping.... maybe after.

When I read the title, I was thinking that you meant like a mirror image of a map. But going from end to beginning would be interesting too.

I think, despite the obvious problems with the plot making no sense, this would be fun. Just so we can play campaigns in a new way.

The spots that were originally start-zones would be getting an overhaul, and spots that were originally finales would be made into ruins (sorry, but that cargo plane is crashed).

Possible changes to make starting zones into finales:

No Mercy- Another story added on, helicopter landing pad, more stairs and rooms accessable. (helicopter rescue)

Blood Harvest- Large Two Story Lodge added in. (military truck rescue)

Dead Air- Ring of linked buildings made, sides of greenhouse smashed apart, leaving holes that lead to other rooftops. (helicopter rescue)

Death Toll- Map cut off at broken bridge, players go up a trail to a fancy house. (helicopter rescue)

What about crazy church guy?

See, only problem I'm seeing now is that you're wanting a helicopter rescue for all but one campaign. And that, I must say, is no fun.

Edit: I love crazy Church Guy. He stays.

You would still have to deal with him to get into the church...the crescendo is moved to a different level.

I just realized this but

Whoever tweaks the maps would just have to add some ladders or change that part of the map a little ...

I've played maps where things have been switched from left to right on other games and it's really weird, especially when you are really used to a map ...

Lego Racers 1.
3/7ths of the games consisted of such.

Would the helicopter pick you up on the apartment roof?
