L4D411 User Titles

The titles users get for having a certain amount of posts are boring (Member, Senior Member, ect). Any ideas on what we should change them to and how many posts it should require? Should we keep it as is? Make it L4D-themed? (Moderator and Admin titles will probably remain the same since we need to be identified.)

On my forum, (I call it mine seeing as it's not mine, I moderate it - bf2s.com,) user titles are chosen by members. I like the idea of member titles not been driven by post count as it gets people to spam.

But whatever. We certainly need something better than junior member, member and senior member, particularly because it takes only 30 posts to get to the top of the mountain so to speak.

I think that ranks would just make a feeling of elitism in people. Be it from post count (which would promote useless spamming) or from admin given rank. And the latter would make the person assume, that he's more leet than other posters and has brings in the "Lol... you haven't been here so long that you would have the right to talk!" -attitude.

On the other hand, I think ranks would be nice. Either kind. :) But the mentality of the forums will change with the ranks... at least with the post count ones.

Keep in mind that 90% of all users have <150 posts. I'd implemented titles for 0, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2500, 5000 and so on. I think having them L4D related is a good idea, so people don't think that those are measuring their worth as a forum user. This should be just for fun.

You are correct on the both cases and I'm not wrong when I state that we'll have few more "bisquits" ;) if and when the post count ranks are made up to X amount of posts. Mark my words, after that we'll see an invasion of one word replies. The power of E-fame is overwhelming.

0-9 Zombie recruit
10-24 Common infected
25-49 Tough infected
50-99 Special infected
100-249 The Tank
250-499 Survivor
500-999 Untouchable
1000-2499 Nothing Specialist
2500-4999 Zombie Genocider
5000+ Chicago Ted

I just saw this being used in the L4DMods forums..

They have a post counter, but they don't have User Titles to correspond with those... instead, it looks like they let you choose which L4D charater you want to be (I don't have an account with them so I don't know for sure), and it gives a little picture of them.. Basically, its the same thing as when you are choosing a side/character when playing the game..

Meh, just a thought

I like this idea. The more posts you have, the more names you have to choose from.

I like smoresforbrawl's idea, but if that doesn't work i'm totally up for using Dead Fish proposed. I liked the idea of l4d achievements as user titles.
