No one probably has an answer for me, but I've been thinking about this for a while. How does the merit/demerit system work if you lan with the same steam account? Would the merits/demerits from lan count towards my total merits/demerits. And if so, how would it do that? Would it be from both computers? Or just one?

My best guess is that merits/demerits are always awarded in game, but only sent to Steam Community (or the console equivalent) when a server is both VAC2 secured (on PC version) and has a stats cvar enabled in the server config. Something like sv_sendstats. It's just a guess but that seems the most logical way for them to do it.
For the same account part, I thought all Source games kicked the first person when the second person connected, even at a lan in offline mode; meaning you wouldn't be able to do that. But if it is possible then the server probably wont submit stats to Steam Community for either, unless it bugs out and collects for both.

I think you can get rewards/demerits in singleplayer/lan but it won't be recorded to your steamaccount. In one article I read that before playing online one could practice in singleplayer in order to make no mistakes in multiplayer.
That would support iRelentless thought of recording. No connection > no recording and a logfile on the local computer could be easily modified.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the help. And as for using the same steam account, I seem to be able to do that with most of my steam games, theres only a few I can't lan with the same account.

Yeah, you mean offline mode?
I think it would be cool if it was how Graf said.
