I just hooked my mic up today, and finally got it to work. The only thing is.. when I talk into it I hear my voice on a delay and, if it is possible I really want to make that stop so I won't be trying to talk over myself. I probably won't use it until I know whether it can be fixed or not, it is annoying as hell! lol
Creative SB X-Fi sound card, and a cheap Genius mic
Thanks in advance if anyone can help. :)

Can you use headphones?
Works great for me.

I always use headphones actually, speaker feedback isn't the problem.

Sure it just wasn't someone else with their mic to close to their speaker, and echoing everything. That happens a lot.

No, can't be that, it happens when I test it too.
I probably should have mentioned both of those in the first post since they are probably the most common reason for it lol.

Does it happen only inside of steam or anywhere else you use your mic?

Is it only happening when you were testing the mic in L4D?
I think its the microphone volume thingy. There's normally one for the input of the microphone and one for the output, which is probably turned up in your case, which causes you to hear yourself through your headphones.
I know its probably nothing alike, but here is what my setup looks like.

Hope that helps.
