Not extremely limited, still some available, 5 hours later, i didn't meet requirements which is funny since i can run CoH on max with AA and all, so I think the beta is dx10 only?
Nope. I'm not running Vista and I was fine. I think, though, that Duo Core and/or 8800 gfx card might be required.
Haven't played yet. Will report when I do.

Yeah supposedly it's dx10 and dual cores only, I'm downloading it but dx10 sux ass.
Works fine on my DX9 rig. Still learning the ropes ... everyone is pretty noob at the moment, and the multiplayer gametype is a fairly complex multi-objective take and hold scenario, so it's hard to get a feel for the ebb and flow of gameplay. Graphics are (of course) beautiful. Will go more in depth once I've spent some time with it.
It's pretty fun once you get the hang of it ... nothing really groundbreaking, but they've stated that they're focusing on DX9 functionality at the moment, so a lot of the DX10 physics are missing, amongst other things ... the most amazing part of it is the foliage, oddly enough. It's everywhere, and very realistic when you move through it.

Yeah, I've had a friggen blast playing this game... I had to tone it down graphically, but on medium, it looks incredible. And the foliage is awesome. It actually reacts to people moving through it. You brush the leaves aside and such.
Oh, and sniping a trucks tires out while the enemy is driving it full speed down a hill is fucking sweet. A few good 360's to barrel rolls down the hill is awesome to watch hehe.

I've become adept at two things:
Defending the proto factory w/ extreme prejudice. Claymores OWNZ0R.
Hunting snipers.
I love hunting snipers. Scanner + Cloaking = win. I've stolen more Gauss Rifles than I can count. Once they know I'm out there, having dedicated myself to putting their campy asses in the ground, they feel obligated to fire and move. They spend more time re-locating than shooting, which spares my team a TON of insta-kill.

Again, I will say this game is fucking awesome. But now, guess what? The beta is now open to all with a Fileplanet account. So, go check it out!
Also, don't be afraid your comp won't run it... Just don't expect to run it at max hehe.

The screenshots looked like they were IRL.
Ergo, my PC cannot remotely dream of running it.

Deek,
Whats your PC spec , and what graphic settings & resolutions you running at?
Interested to see if a top 8800 dual core can run it on max

Probably, it is what the game was made on. Looking in Crysis forums people generally can, even though the beta is apparently unoptimized.

I'm running an 8800GTS 320mb card, 2gb of RAM, Core 2 Duo at 2.13Ghz.
I tried max settings, and had drops to 7fps lol. But now, I play at 1400x1050 (I think thats what it was) on medium. The game looks incredible, and I don't have any framerate issues. Playing on a 22" widescreen also. I was playing with the settings, and I turned my resolution down and I was able to run pretty damn good on high, I just like the higher resolution hehe.
Deek,

Windows XP home (no DX10)
e6600 duo core @ 2.4ghz
2 gigs of RAM @ 667
8800 GTS 640mb
280gig 7200 RPM hdd
I'm able to run Crysis at 1650x1020 with 2x AA and all Advanced settings on High. I experience little to no hardware related slowdown, except when in spectator, way up high with a extended viewing distance. Even then, it's not a slideshow by any means.
I cannot set anything to Very High, it's all grayed out. I assume because I'm not running Vista. So technically, with regard to Windows XP, I'm running on max (with the exception of anti-aliasing).

I was under the impression Very High was grayed out because it isn't prepped yet...

Deek & globalenjoi - Thats good to know the game runs great on those specs.
I`m marginally higher than the two of you , just coz I have an 8800GTX 768Mb and 4Gb DDR @ 667. Got the same e6600 as you Deek , was looking at getting a Q6600 recently, but moving house has put paid to that for now!
Looking forward to the official demo - is it still 26th October or has it been put back again?

Yeah, Very High settings (or Ultra, in some games) tend to include all of the DX10 crud, the stuff hasn't really been tested yet in Crysis multiplayer. They were optimizing for DX9. I assume that will change very soon.

Yeah, I was looking at Quad cores as well, but I've decided to "wait for the next big thing" and milk my e6600 until the new 45nm processors hit the market.

No idea, sorry.

Thats probably what I`ll end up doing.
I was going to start building another PC with my E6600 should I have gotten the Q6600.
The main reason for the second PC is for L4D , so my mate and me can play together online with my other mate and his son. Been as L4D isnt out till at least February it may be worth hanging on.
Everything I play at the moment runs fine at max so no point wasting £170 just yet I guess.
I expect you`re not worried about the demo as you`ve been enjoying the beta for a while now!
Does it actually live up to the hype though? Bioshock was extremely good, but ultimately quite short and with little replay value. Even Halo 3 ( although brilliant ) has been hyped as much as Crysis.

Well, graphically, it definitely lives up to the hype. And actually proved me wrong, as I was thinking my machine would barely run it even on low.
Gameplay wise, the multiplayer is still the same old "Capture Bases, Kill Enemies" formula, but there are things that make it fresh, and fun. My favorite thing, of course, is being able to shoot out tires on vehicles hehe, as well as being able to shoot through the windshield windows.
The suit options definitely add a new level to gameplay as well. They may seem minor, but I found myself using them way more than I had originally thought.
Small things, like how you purchase items, and the ability to customize your weapons further enhance the gameplay.
Plus, you have to remember that so far, the beta has only included 1 map. There is a ton of potential to be had here, especially when the game comes out and custom maps start to hit the net. So far, I love the game, and will definitely be buying it just from what I've played.
Indeed. Lots of potential, but the multiplayer is nothing groundbreaking atm. It's fun, and there's a ton of little things that add up to a unique experience, but overall, it won't blow your mind or anything. I have a feeling the real show will be the singleplayer experience.
The suit powers I use constantly. Running fast, jumping high, cloaking. Soon as I run out of power, I feel naked. You gotta be sure to activate your armor power when a serious firefight starts. If you get into it with a guy employing his max armor, and you're still using cloak ... you're gonna get rocked more often than not.

This article pretty much sums up my feelings. Crysis multiplayer has tons of potential, but still has a way to go ...

You are 100% correct on the suit thing.
Yeah, I really hope the singleplayer is better than FarCry's. It's not that I didn't enjoy it, it just wasn't spectacular (though I still love the game).
Hopefully the demo can bring some new things to the table, and especially the release.

Hey, because I don't have a $1400 super computer, and probably never will, is this a 360 release? I figure the not as good console version is better than spending a million to buy a new computer.

As far as I know, no. And if it does, it'll be crap compared to the PC version.

Bump. System Requierments Lab now has Crysis on it, so if there are still any doubters you can go check it out. I tested my
2x8600GT256MB
AMD Athlon X2 +2400
2GB RAM
And so on and so forth computer and it passed everything to the highest bar EXCEPT, Windows XP Service Pack 2, which got a bar above pass. Noooo!!! It clearly implies you need better hardware when you're running Vista though. Im almost positive this is a collaberated plot by SRL and CryTek to make low end gamers buy the game and make their PC's explode.
CPU
Minimum: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista) or faster, Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista) or faster, AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or faster
CPU Speed
Minimum: 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz or higher for Vista
System RAM
Minimum: 1 GB (Windows Vista requires 1.5GB RAM)
Operating System
Minimum: Windows XP/Vista
Video Card
Minimum: Supported chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or greater. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. Integrated chipsets are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required.
That's most if it, I can't bother to copy and paste the rest, plus I have to poop.

Scarily enough, that isn't nearly as high as I thought. 2.2 Ghz Dual Core? Not nearly as bad as I thought. As for the videocard and RAM, thats easy. But screw GeForce Series 8, Series 9 is next year! W00t. And dontleave the console version will suck. Great games are always better on PC. It's just that simple. Best example would have to be Halo. Still the best PC game ever. Ever.

LOL I thought I'd never play chrysis, but guess what they had that at WCG also! it's just stunning how great the graphics are, how every little piece of grass and tree moves around you and moves to getting shot and individual branches/trees etc. can fall...just amazing!!!
I didn't have time to beat the demo (beta, w/e) but probably like 15 minutes or so...
