My friend and I were playing on a server on Survival mode and we came across a server with low gravity. We instantly went to the Gas Station level and jumped upon the petrol station and down the side. We got a total time of 20 minutes and got achievements. We continued this until we got bored of sitting around for ten minutes getting all the gold times.
I was surprised to see it worked and that we got gold medals, also I added the server to my favourites so I'll go on later hehehe.

So.....you cheated?

Did that on the gas station, we jumped on the fire escape above the station, and on top of the building, and glitched on top of it and jumped down into the sewers and held out at the hospital

Pretty Much, I don't like unlocked achievements, as you could probs tell from my L4D achievements list.

It's kind of sad how easy it is to cheat the scoreboard and achievements system in survival mode. It takes a matter of minutes to locate the memory address of the god mode cvar's value. Using a memory editor and a local server you can easily acquire all of the achievements or post ridiculous times to the scoreboard system.

Survival mode was fun for me for as long as it took to get about four gold medals the legit way.
Yeah, it's super easy to cheat the system and rack up crazy times. Specially when you turn on 10x time compression...

What's the point in cheating like that, all it does is take the fun away from the entire game. Just to get on the scoreboard? Do it the right way and earn your way onto it.

3 step plan to enjoy low gravity:
1. Have your friends jump on the gas station unexpectingly
2. Shoot the station
3. Prepare to have your friends deplete from the friends list
Rinse and repeat

I couldn't care less about Leaderboards. boasting about how you got 15 minutes without cheating will make me go 'wow' but I won't start worshipping someone just for a really good time. As I said, I just wanted the achievements because I don't like achievements being locked.

So if you dont like them unlocked, why do you unlock them. Let them stay locked.
But I agree to the rest here. Achievements are supposed to be hard. They are things that are supposed to be ACHIEVED, not just given away like promises of cake at the end of the day.

people that glitch are worse then trash in my opinion.
I was kicked because i wouldnt glitch the crane event.
I dont understand how people get enjoyment out of abusing game mechanics that make it impossible to lose.

You're on thin ice, friend... thin ice.
It's fine to disagree with cheating to get the achievements.
Don't make it personal.

sorry that im not a fan of people that cheat. My bad.
As a matter of fact fuck it. This whole forum and 99% of the mods have a god complex. Its a shame that anyone that knows this has there account taken away, and thier posts deleted.
Fuck left4dead411.
The people here are the reason L4D's community is considered one of the worst in gaming.

Actually, it's people like YOU that make this forum what it is. If you don't like it, leave. The mods don't have a god complex, they just do their job (which they do not get paid for and do on their own time). I will probably be warned for this and that's all fine, but that does not mean they have a god complex. They participate in discussions just as much as a normal member does and step in to do their job when someone steps out of line, a la you.

This.
In a game with well over two thousand public servers, the solution to landing on one full of cheaters is simple...find another server. If people get their jollies screwing with the system and posting ridiculous scores on a scoreboard that has no real meaning, whatever.
Back on topic, I've never been a fan of toying with gravity but I'm all for modding the game in general. I always playtest my tweaks to make sure they don't break the game entirely (like the hunter pounce release "leapfrog" feature, hah) but I think I'm in the minority. I've seen plenty of servers in many years of hosting that just change things willy-nilly because it seemed like a good idea at the time.
I still like crawling the best though...almost everyone that plays on my server says they wish it was enabled everywhere.

Yeah, I'd probably try low-gravity once just for the experience of it, but I don't think I'd like it as a permanent change.

So, this is kinda off topic, but still curious. The manual hunter release option doesnt over power the hunter?

I think cheaters should die and burn in Scientologist Hell. They are why babies cry. They are why monkeys evolved into people, they are why Nixon got elected, they are why FDR put America into debt...
Damn, I broke my spree.

Saying 'glitchers are trash' doesn't warrant a stern parenting in my book. But I guess it isn't my place.

I have a server and I am tempted to do this by using sourcemod. Valve should put an option to turn off the leaderboards.

It is against the rules, and failure to abide by the rules = talking to. If they made a rule saying no profanity in avatars, then I would remove mine even if I thought it was funny.

more modding than cheating......
On survival? I thought no one cared about the times of others or themselves?
Were you all lying?
If some servers are modded, let people play on em if they made the choice that nothing was wrong with doing it.

So you cheated to earn an achievement that does pretty much nothing. Cool.
If everyone who cheated posted saying they did, we'd probably need a new section just for that.
Once valve fixes all this cheating bullshit, they need to erase everyone's time.
You should start a thread with a poll like that. Seriously.

I meant that after testing I got rid of it because it does really break the hunter. You can combo between all four survivors infinitely if you practice a little, it gets really frustrating.

Only if you can both hit from that range, and they don't see you coming. Remember, low gravity means your vertical accelleration is low, which means you're either jumping straight at them, or you have some serious hangtime. Either way you're a bit of a target.

Maybe I missed the answer to this question skimming thru the posts, but how do you get low gravity on the XBOX360? I don't care about the cheating aspect of it, I just stumbled across a low gravity game in Scavenge Mode and thought it was hysterical! :D Any helpful tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

Most likely, you can't.
