View Full Version : Third person stuck as side view?

Okay, this might be something stupid that I screwed up, idk...

I was doing some screen shots in the game using the third person views about a week ago or so, I didn't notice at the time but I guess now the third person view is stuck facing the side instead of the back (meaning W moved teh character forward but the camera sideways.. if that makes sense))

I searched the forums and Google but this doesn't seem to be an actual known issue or anything. It may be something stupid that I did hitting a button or gawd knows what, but it is annoying as I'm trying to get set up to make a video, and it is definitely not going to work like this lol.

Anyone have any ideas how to fix it?

The only thing I can think of is reinstalling the game.

Edit: Reinstalled and it still does it so idk wtf =/

In tf2 there is a command called thirdpersion_mayamode and that command keeps the camera locked in the same angle, as the one you were describing. I'm not sure if the command itself is is L4D though as i haven't used third person much in that game.

Yeah, that is in L4D too. I messed with that to see if I could fix it but nope, soon as I went back to normal third person it was the same thing. Thanks for the suggestion though.

LMAO pretty much at this point!XD

Okay new question, I'm not finding anything about this online but it there a way to just take the settings back to default, as reinstalling probably just made the game keep running on a cache or something? Sorry if it doesn't make sense I'm getting sleepy lol.

One thing I recall when I had a problem installing sourcemod was that even if I reinstalled the game, I got the same error. I realized I needed to actually manually delete my left 4 dead folder, THEN install it from a steam backup file. It worked after that, so perhaps a setting got saved somewhere and l4d reinstall isn't overwriting it? I don't think I started out with an autoexec.cfg in my left 4 dead folder from a fresh install, so maybe it's something like that, a file that got created and never deleted

Thanks! I got it solved for now I think, somehow the camera yaw was changed to "64.[insert random numbers here]", very weird... but its all better for now, and hopefully for good lol. :)

Yes, I was about to say the default camera angle is placed to the side. But i didn't have to explain.

It didn't start out like that at all, it was behind, as it is supposed to be then was one day suddenly facing the chars right side for no reason. The cross hair was in the middle of the screen but the gun fired off to the right of the screen if that explains it better.
