I'm having a bit of trouble updating my drivers for my Radeon 9550 (I love playing at 9fps).
I followed the instructions to installing it, and I've done it before (I forget how though), and I downloaded it and ran the installer, but when I run dxdiag it says I still have the old version.

Edit: I'd also like to try reinstalling the drivers a minimum amount of times because it makes me uninstall Steam and I lose all my downloaded maps and for some reason now, some of the zombie models in Counter Strike just have big red ERRORs on them.

Read this, follow it to the letter:

I follow this method every time I try a new graphics card driver :D

Exactly why you don't get a ATI card, just cheap machine lined scraps from Toronto.

And what's that suppose to mean? I have an ATI Radeon X1950 Pro and it doesn't give me any trouble. 9550 is just an old driver...

They are constantly outperformed by Nvidia, ATI cards are made in a shit factory in Toronto, I am Canadian but I admit we are bad at making things.

The latest dx10 ATI card failed miserably compared to nvidia's 8800 series.

I did the stuff it said in that link and it still says I have the August driver.

Are you sure you're not just re-installing the same driver then? The file may have a different name but is actually the same driver.

I'm finally back home tonight after what seems like ages away, I'll see what drivers i can find for you.
