View Full Version : The most unfair game of dead air versus EVER

so I finally got a full game of 8 people for versus at 2AM yesterday,
on the first map of DA, we dominated, something like 1200 to 150 I think.
One of my teammates sounded like a conspiracy theorist, continually cussing and yelling about how ever since the update, the game sucks cause whoever GETS dominated one level, will get it easy in the next map. I kinda laughed at him (with my mike off, of course)
BUT
lo and behold, on the second DA map, we kept setting up PERFECT ambush after ambush (as the infected), and would wound them a bunch, but then they kept finding so many damn health packs!
We counted, the director put over 15 health packs throughout the map for them (if not more, that's how many times we counted them healing), it was crazy the amount of times we'd have 3 if not all of the survivors with depleting health (where it slowly goes down to 1), then after an ambush while we were respawning, we'd check a second later and they'd have 2 other health packs, and it would be like starting at square one (for us infected).
At the start of DA3, everyone on my team was so pissed about that, that they all quit. I tried to make a 1v4 run....it didn't end well.
o, btw, this was on the XBOX. I didn't put it in that section though cause I felt this was a "main" thing, since it relates to the director and such

You must've got the same amount of medkits.
Yeah I've played a game where the enemy team found multiple healthpacks. It was annoying and although they made it to thie finish, so did we after only finding one healthpack between us on the way there, (it was at the start and hence, unusable.) Generally I think if a team is sucking so much as to get a multitude of healthpacks the opposing team should relish having a bit more of a challenge.

True. I've played a few games where the AID id throwing out medipacks for the enemy team like confetti. Luckily he did it for me and my team once so I can't really complain. Just write it off as a bad day and keep going.

I find that teams always have the same amount of medpacks, some are just better hidden than others. I've never played 1 round where the other team received more medpacks than us.

I've had this used for and against me.

It sounds like I just haven't played enough lately. I guess I just need to play more so I can have this works FOR my team to even it out :)

You get the same amount of health packs, but they are usually hidden better.

I always thought the amount of medkits were spawned, depending on how well your team is doing, for example:
Team A) Doing really well, hasn't had an incap, only one or two of them on yellow health - when they get to a medical cabinet, there may only be pills in there. They find only a couple of randomly spawned medkits.
Team B) Not doing so great, used up all their medkits, some on red health/limping, get to a medical cabinet, find two medkits. They find several randomly spawned medkits.
I could be wrong, but that's how it seems to play out for me.

Thats the way it ALWAYS is for me when I play. I dont think the AID spawns the same amount of medpaks. OR he does and then puts them in places that you cant even get to, because I cant tell you how many times the other team gets loads more medpacks then us, and we do look around a lot.

yeah this happens too me a lot we counted and each map they got between 8 and 16 health packs then when we played through we found a total of about 2 and they were doing the same damage that we were to them only we just made it 1 person on about 10 most of the time) whereas they got 3 of them with at least one pack each (till finale in which we slaughtered them before they even started the timer (called vehicle)
then made it out with all of us (we got lucky with both tanks just constantly running at us HA)

lol that sucks, I haven't actually tried out the new versus campaigns since the DLC. I've only played survival off and on.

the thing that is way more frustrating is when your team sucks to badly to take advantage of the medpacks you DO get. For instance, I was playing the NM Subway. One person had a flaming hunter on them in the beginning, and the rest were smoked/boom'd. The hunter'd guy heals after we get him up. I'm first one up the stairs, there is a medpack around the corner. I keep saying in my mic, "someone come and grab the medpack, right here" and making my character say "medpack over here" over and over. It wasn't like it was out of the way or anything, but my team just keeps going as if I was transparent to the world. All dumb and mute. I hate pubs.
the other thing that pisses me off is when someone has a medpack AND pills and they treat it like gold, as if it were an expert campaign mode or something, while you or another teammate drags ass behind the group with 1 healthpoint left, then accuse you of 'failing' when the entire infected team ambushes you and they run ahead to the safe house, shooting the red car along the way. Did I mention I hate pubs?

Med packs in versus are a serious balance issue. They're an incredible boon to the team's that get them but they aren't distributed evenly or fairly.
The CEVO mod where there are no extra kits except on finale is the way to go.

hah, pubbing sometimes is alot of fun, but some people just don't get the idea of team work. I enjoy winning, and prefer to win, but dont' really care if I lose though, ultimately I just want to have fun. But if my team doesn't talk AT ALL (even team type) and ignore their teammates then it goes against the basis of how to play the game, making the game not fun at all.

That sounds about right. Thats exactly how I feel. I really hate people who are mutes.

I think ultimately thats how I feel too. I mean it was frustrating to see the other team get sooo many healthpacks, but even so, it made me more than 3X madder that the others on my team just yelled and quit. I was still optimistic (i.e. "come on guys, we got 3 more maps, it's still a close game, etc.)
but once they all left and it was 1v4 that pissed me off. Hence, this thread was born!

I had the same problem the other day. I was playing with a friend on DA, the other 2 on our team were pubs. We were on the final strencth to the safe house, pretty much all full health or around there, and I spotted a medkit to the right ontop of one of the bars. My firnd and I wait there and call to the others (we both had medkits, they didn't) while they continue to run to the safehouse and close the door, only coming to pick it up when we fend off about two hordes and a few special infected attacks. The extra 20 health points we got from it ended up winning that round for us.

Lol once on the first map on Death Toll I went up the stairs by the saferoom to check to see if there was a medkit. Well there was, so I decided to get the extra 30 points or so, I started to heal. A hunter pounced me, then my friend came up to help and he got pounced. Then the other two survivors came to help and one fell and got boomed and the other smoked. So everyone died coming out of the saferoom.
Needless to say they weren't very happy with me, haha. We still ended up winning in the end though. And it was a bit of a laugh.

There is nothing more satisfying then getting through a level when it is 1v4 when you are the one. However when you become the infected then you are pretty fucked IMO.

But did you win the game?? That is the big question.
