You should play American McGee's Alice. Not only is the story incredible, but so is the soundtrack. Musical genius Chris Vrenna was in charge of it. It has some very dark, and some very sad music. I actually have the songs ripped from the game files that I can listen to hehe.

I thought Trent Reznor was involved with or wrote the soundtrack for this (I may be wrong, been ages since I played this & yup - was a very good game).

Personally I really enjoyed the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack....suited the melancholy storyline well I thought

Silent Hill soundtracks are awesome, they give you the perfect atmosphere. This song I don't really feel sad or anything about, it's all synthesized, and as a musician I don't really like that stuff. But as a gamer some of the synthesized stuff is good. I like having an orchestra.
