That's for people who can't aim, the reason there are no auto shotguns is because the firing pin can't keep up with automatic fire, making the weapon basically loose bullet speed and velocity, I'm not proud but have killed Rag heads with a shotgun (Remmington 8700) from 80+meters easily, shotguns are accurate, people think because in games shotguns rounds spread out, the BB's do spread out (yes a buckshot round is made of BB's) but over time they do not, they only spread for about a second then stay, making a shotgun accurate, shotguns can kill from far away, hence why people use them for hunting and professional skeet shooting competitions. There has been an DA-12 in Swedish Military Service for years as well, also they think that loading it with grenade shells that it's the weapon of the future because it can fire grenades? I don't think they've seen the H & K (Hecklar and Kotch) Hand held Grenade Launcher, they're only the length of your thigh, usually less. A normal shotgun kills perfectly.

Sorry, but thats utter nonsense. There are guns capable of firing thousands of rounds per minute.

The problem with auto shotguns has always been the recoil. They kick like a bitch on single shot, if you were able to fire multiple times you'd be lucky to keep firing in the general direction of a target, let alone be accurate.
They've got around that problem by way of the reloading action which uses the power of the recoil to reload, and dissapate the force.
