View Full Version : Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
It's in stores now, picked mine up at EB yesterday. Pretty great, so far. Anyone else plan to get a copy? Even with my beta experience, I'm pretty lost with the new factions ... would be cool to set up a few noob L4D411 2v2 games to learn the ropes.

Dont think I will ever get that game, out of spite(stupid Beta), and the fact that WiC was a more enjoyable experience for me.

I love CoH, I might get that expansion.
Tell me how good it is when you can, and I may hasten to play it too.

I just got WiC so probably not, unless its VERY good.
The beta connection issues were pretty henious. But it's all good now. =)
I like WiC, but it's a tad shallow for my tastes in terms of online RTS. It's a little too rock-papper-scissors. If you're lucky enough to find a good game with great teamwork, it's fantastic ... but I still prefer running the show, as opposed to being a lowly cog in the war machine.
It's CoH, with more cool shit! If you like the original CoH, you'll like this. The two new factions add a ton of replayability, and make online a hella lot more interesting. There's a few wrinkles to be worked out (the RO netcode still isn't pefect, for instance), but I love it. Haven't played all that much, so I can't go into crazy detail, be I've enjoyed myself thusfar.

Pfft, that's ridiculous. 2vs2 on low player mode or whatever its called=most control you'll ever get in any FPS. Nothing like slamming 3 nukes on the ground, waiting for radiation to dissipate and using the edges of the crater as high ground with your tanks, then moving in choppers. Only problem with WiC, besides lack of maps is that infantry roles are underplayed, but if you set up a game on Seattle, where everyone uses infantry, its probably some of the most cinematic moments Ive ever seen.
The beta connection issues were downright shit on a platter, the worst Ive ever seen, literally. Not even MMO's have that kind of shit on em, even doing stress tests. Don't get me wrong, when I did get to play, which was like once a day, British were definately the best addition. Their defensiveness-ish-icity is amazing. I recall holding a single area while surrounded on 3 sides, wasn't bad. Not only was it fun to be 'winning' I guess, but it looked cool watching your men in the trenches. I especially like how Brits, are essentially a mobile army, quite contradictary to them being a defensive one... just move in the trucks, which are oddly shaped and you're on your way.
I might pick it up... but WiC is definately my favorite right now, if it had sand bags it'd be instant win. Fortunately game focuses more on the bigger battlefield than the individual soldier, but I guess we have EndWar for that :)

Maybe. I lost interest in the WiC beta before low player mode was introduced. With more troops types to control, chances are I'd like it better. Not so dependent on retarded teammates. Still, unit interaction is a little too cut and dry for me. Tanks beat Support, Air beats Tanks, Support beats Air ... etc. Only Infantry I found interesting, because they can stand against anything, assuming you field the right combination. But as you've stated, they're underused. Much easier (and effective) to field tanks with chopper support, I suppose.
Regardless, CoH is my mistress. I prefer micro to macro. But that's just me.
The British defense is pretty amazing, though I personally enjoy cracking the turtle.

I will get it as soon as I got enough money (soon after the release of the orange box I guess).
