E3 Showfloor Interview on Gamespot

He said some interesting stuff!


There will be 20 new weapons and items in the game.
The Charger is one of the three new special infected.
Valve is going to show more stuff througout events during the summer including the Penny Arcade Expo.

Only four are. The frying pan, axe, baseball bat and chainsaw :)

I don't want to debate but those are the only 4 we have seen....in a good portion of gameplays. I thought it wouldn't hurt to say they have more, which would be great.
If ammo counts(which idk), then the flaming bullets would count as a weapon, but i doubt it.

Awesome. But I wonder if things like the MAC-10 replacing the Uzi (which as far as I can tell has no functional difference) counts as a new weapon?

Keep in mind, he said 20 new weapons and items. I bet the incendiary ammo is included in that and there is probably going to be some other non-weapon stuff.

Oh ok, I missed that part. So flaming ammunition is included. Thanks Deadfish. :)

I'm sure they count it as one and if you've seen the gameplay videos it looks like most if not all the weapons have been re skinned to look like different ones. A simple guess would be:

1. pistol
2. sub manchinegun
3. assault rifle
4. shotgun
5. auto shotgun
6. some type of scoped rifle
7. frying pan
8. baseball bat
9. axe
10. chainsaw

So if Valve is counting the new skins as new weapons, which sure they're "new" I guess, then that leaves ten more. I thought I remember seeing somewhere that the four melee weapons are the only ones, but I can't find the link so I wont assume. So what else could they be? More melee? Heavy weapons, like a flame-thrower and M60/240Bravo? Maybe more hand thrown items like an actual grenade or something? Only time will tell.

Actually, here is what Valve considered their 10 'weapons' in L4D1:

1: Pistol
2: Dual Pistols
3: Submachine Gun
4: Assault Rifle
5: Pump Shotgun
6: Auto Shotgun
7: Hunting Rifle
8: Pipe Bomb
9: Molotov
10: Minigun

So if they are just counting the reskins than it's 14 weapons and items confirmed including the melee weapons.

I don't think they would count the reskins but I wouldn't put it past them either.

I read somewhere (I forget where) they were re-vamping the hunting rifle with something people may actually use so I'm guessing you can cross off the hunting rifle unless its some new tier 2 sniper rifle.

If you were talking to me I was listing what Valve considered to be L4D1's 10 weapons.

And there is a new skin for the hunting rifle, I think its now a H&K G3 with a scope (http://www.zombicidal.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/g3.jpg). I'm reasonably sure its going to be nothing more than a reskin of the Hunting Rifle with a few gameplay tweaks. (I would love to see a Tier 1 Hunting Rifle though.)

OMG it will be at PAX again!!! there is a god!!

I remember thinking to myself a couple days ago whether my friends and I should go again, and thinking "well maybe not, cause the thing I wanted to play the most was Left4dead"

but I'll def. be going again and to give you guys juicy details :)
