my day at WCG

ok so i'm not gonna talk about the other games I played there until the end cause most people here only care about L4D :)

-other teams i watched:
(I didn't see a whole team from beginning, but boy did i see them die!)

this might have been the coolest thing I saw all day btw:
-one team I was watching for a while, nothing great happened until they got into one of the warehouses, which coincidentally has a forklift in which coincidentally has real physics. ya know where I'm going with this??? the tank come pounding into the the place, the first thing he hits is the forklift, sends it flying into like 2 or 3 of the survivors, killing/getting them down instantly!!! I couldn't help but shout "OOOOOHHHH DAMMMMNNNN!!!" and laugh... the last guy just got surrounded by the zombies and the tank and that was that.

I guess I was loud enough in that cause after that booth kidna shows up outa nowhere like the butler from that addam sandler movie and asks how I think of it so far...

now I wish I could go back and strike a longer conversations w/him and ask Q's, but I was still fixated on the screens and wanting to play myself, so I just sorta blabbed out a bunch of random things like an idiot
"it's awesome, amazing, I LOVE ANYTHING WITH ZOMBIES, big zombie fan yeah it's sweet (something along the lines of that)

after a few seconds I looked to my right and realized it was him. by that time, chet was taking his picture in front of the L4D booth/vise versa, so in both of those pictues theres a side pic of my face, YAY!

-other few teams I watched I only caught short glimpses cause I was talking to people
but:
I saw a tank charge someone in a room, the guy somehow escaped, and I think the tank got stuck in the corner or something cause then the survivors were just shooting him from like 5 ft away, I could see the tank's swinging motions,etc. but he was going forward, then when they killed him, his head/arm went through the wall (this was in the room u had to get to by a lift above the gas station)

the team that made it farthest all day go to the seweres b4 getting swarmed by zombies from every corner and that was the end of that.

rundown of my playing time
PROS:
-better graphics than you think when it's in HD an all
-lot of different routs to take than you think, if ur not careful it's easy to split up
-voice-overs are amazing (I'll explain more in my story)
-watching them play as the zombies, it looks simple, there are lines on the floor guiding you to the survivors (I think) and things that stand out on walls that you can climb up. u can basically go anywhere in the scenario.
-besides that it's what you expect seeing all the videos online, just zombies, co-op and INCREDIBLE FUN!!!

CONS (glitches, etc.)
-it actually looks like pouncing on someone with a hunter will take a while to get used to. the guy would do it like 5 times right in a survivors face and I guess wasn't doing it juuuust right
-that tank stuck in wall
-a zombie just crouched and not moving behind gas tank
-when throwing a pipe bomb, the zombies flew up in the air but no explosion effect AT ALL
-the throwing of the bombs/cocktails seems all too slow IMO. I clicked, a second later the cocktail flew, then seemed like it was almost in zero gravito floating down below, missing the 20 zombies I was aiming for (it would've been so cool)
-I shot a zombie on a car, it fell through it to the ground

end of rundown: the only things wrong with it are those stupid source glitches with shadows & things through walls. I don't know how they fix that, but it's the only thing wrong in my opinion. and it's not like those things even put a pebel sized dent in the experience at all.


ok so my actual story
-when my friends got there, there was one open seat, my friend Nathan darted to it, while the one next to him was being played by some valve guy or something. my friend is an IDIOT and missed the table of plentiful guns in the beginning, charging into the apartment with only a pistol (LMFAO). *skip forward* the valve guy dies, looks behind him, and says I can come play if I want, so I do. it's weird my friend with the pistol actually hadn't gotten down once and had almost full health at about the subway. I got rescued from somewhere right at the beginning of the subway. right when we opened the doors there were a swarm of zombies climbing up, nathan got surrounded with is pistol, and as I.....oh dang sry guys I have to go i'm at my friends house I'm going home I'll edit or continue this later 2night!



It's funny how I realized this. you feel like your doing so good, with all ur health, some pills and a P-bomb, just until one room can ruin EVERYTHING, like the roof of death did for us.

ok so to continue.....
while my friend was being surrounded by his pistol I ran for the nearby vent/duct that leads down to the subway because all I had was a pistol and didn't want to get caught in the horde. But our other team mate (not related to us) just unloaded on the zombies around him with a shotgun , KILLING HIM IN THE PROCESS!! so I waited for my other 2 alive survivors to come to the duct. I jumped out into the subway station at the top of some escalators. since I just came back and only had a pistol, I darted down the escalators to get the M16.(I knew where it was from the videos online) after picking it up I exclaimed "YEAYA" and then turned around to get vomited on by a boomer...so I backed up, shot it and then there was smoke everywhere (someone must have killed a smoker) and as I backed away from it up the escalators, I could see the tons of zombies now coming at the scent of my puke, and 2 hunters jumpin around there two, so as my teamates shot at the zombies coming up, I threw my pipe bomb, killing pretty much all of the zombies and hunters! ( that was the glitch where the zombies flew in the air, but there was no actual explosion)

so the 3 of us trudge on, all the while I could hear nathan(the biker dude) yelling "help me outa here, i could really help!!" from some closet in the distance.

not much happened in the subway, as the AI direcor let up after the previous madness. just a few scattered zombies. I love being the first to enter a room with a few staggering zombies, cause b4 they notice you, you can squeeze off a few head-explosion head shots, it's sweet....anywayz....
at about the end of the subway, I rescued my friend nathan from a closet, so he was back....but in the next room (the last one with the exit stairs leading up from the subway) zombies started coming in from every direction, behind, the side, the other end (bad descriptives i know)
SO after I ran out of my clip, I just jumped and meleed for my life until I got out of the circle of scratching biting zombies. my team and I ran to the steps that lead out of the subway and into the next room to escape the still overwhelming amount of zombies behind us......only to be confronted with a hunter and a TANK!!!!
it was all over in a matter of about 10-15 seconds. I went down first, hit in the head with flying debre. so I turned my attention from the tank to the zombies behind us with my pistol, but it was too late. before the tank stomped me to death I barely turned to see nathan getting torn to shreds by the hunter, and my other 2 team mates freaking out. It's hard trying to back away from a tank when the small hallway behind you is filled with 20-30 zombies, ya know?? so that was the end for us (my first try)

o yeah, another cool thing if I'm right.
-when I was watching a previous team, I think I saw blood spraying on a nearby wall from a hunter tearing on someone.....it could've just been someone shooting the hunter, but from when we talked to booth on steam chat he did say they would make blood spray out. so maybe/maybe not.
-and a hilarious thing....the same teamate that killed my friend shot me when zombies were around me, and my voice (francis, the black guy) was like 'WHAT THE HELL MAN, YU CRAZY STOP SHOOTIN ME!!" but ya know imagine it in a quick black man's voice....I could here all the people behind us laughing...


-BOY ya think ur doin so good and then WHAM! yur whole team is dead.

sry I got home, put off my homework while watching football and t.v. shows, then did my homework at like 10:30.....so I'll write about my second time (getting farther, and playing from the start with my friend Chris) 2morrow after school. night everybody.
-I hope my memory will still be good. I think I'll need to watch some videos to remember the order of which rooms came first.

Sounds like u had a wicked time m8, the game sounds like its so much fun! Just the overwhelming amount of Infected can make u forget that at any moment a Boomer, Smoker, Hunter, Tank or Witch can completely fuck you all up!

Did u have any encounters with the Witch while u were there? (my favorite Infected) :)

ok so I could be Completley wrong....BUT when you first get out onto the street (just look in videos, i don't have any) there is a right turn, then another right turn past the burning oil rig, then strait ahead is the 1st safe room. well on my second run-through as my team went around the right turn towards the safe-house, I like to explore so I went to the left corner of the streat behind a broken tanker, not the one on fire. Behind it was this girl zombie, short, pale, white shirt or w/e just standing there, I shot her, she turned, made some zombie like noise (ya know just think of 28 weeks later or the hunter's shriek in L4D) "shit!!" and then I unloaded on her and she died. coulda been a girl zombie, coulda been the witch, I have no idea squerl or frog ur thoughts?.....shrub u see her?

ok so sry guys I can't remember all of my second run-through from the beginning but I just can remember parts, and most importantly (and sadly) how it all ended.

My god. If this was you playing I can't possibly imagine your frustration. Getting to play Left 4 Dead but getting to play Left 4 Dead with idiots.

when we got to the first safe room, I made sure everyone was right behind me, then I entered first, yelled "make sure ya close it behind us whoever's last (it was me, my friend Chris, some old guy, and this chick who didn't even know how to use a med-kit,so yeah.....)
so I run in, get some stuff, then WTF the other two people bedsides Chris and I are back out in the alleyway outside the shirt store getting mauled, so we had to go back to shoot the horde, and in the process, both me and my friend got hung (but saved eachother)....then after the checkpoint, I was like "wait" and started to heal myself, the other two idiots busted out the room and ran down the stairs to the subway, like WTF!??!
(can't remember a lot...so FLASH-FORWARD)

the most suspensful part of this run through was the street right in front of the second safehouse. I was INFECTED and so my health was slowly going down by the second...the only person with a health kit was the girl and she was wayyy ahead in the freakin safe house, so I'm at 10 health, limping slow as hell. my friend Chris stayed back with me thank god...when my health got to 1...1 people!!!! i got pounced on by a hunter from behind, I frantically (pretty much banged) on Chris's screen "BEHIND YOU DAMMIT!!!"
and so he saved me....something I'm not sure about though...QUESTION: so i had one health, got pounced on, then when revived had 30 health still ticking down...so in a situation like that is getting downed actually a good thing, squerl or frog again ur thoughts?
anyway so I sprinted for that safe house, closed it, got two health-kits, and all was well
(FLASH-FORWARD)
scene:GAS STATION
chet was standing behind me now, idk where booth went...
I was shooting zombies coming from the left over a fence, shot the pumps a few times, frantically chet "you don't wanna shoot those." Oh shit I totally forgot LOL he saved me on that one.....
anyway, so a few scattered zombies in that parking lot around the station, one was glitched out crouching behind a pump not moving, so I shot him. chet points out that now I have to get on that box over there, jump onto the 18-wheeler, and onto the ladder...once I get up there my whole team exexpt that one stupid girl is already next to me, she's at the pumps doing god knows what....."get up here" i say.
as soon as she starts coming, about 30 zombies come from inside the station, breaking windows, climbing over shelves, it was so epic I almost fainted :)
that was when I thought "sweet I'll save the day" so I get out my cocktail. but the throwing system is messed up and slow so I completely miss the horde, and she gets down right in front of the truck.....us 3 up top unload into them, then I have to be the fool to go revive her. out of the corner of my eye as I'm helping her up, I see a tank....so I jump up that truck and up the ladder so fast, and surprisingly she follows close behind. Once in the building, I knew exactly where to go to get to the long strip of rooftop to get to the other side, so that's where I go (again for reference watch some gameplay vids)....as soon as I'm out on the rooftop, I shoot at the tank I can see through a window, now somehow in the building and my team of idiots is still in that first room and didn't follow. so I had to go back, unload w/ the m16 to kill the tank, help up 2 teamates, one is Chris who was in the mist of fire and the tank (afterwords he said the girl or the old guy on our team threw their cocktail right at him & the tank,lol..... the old guy was now dead also....so now the 3 of us all go across the rooftop. about halfway, chris yells "behind you behind you" so I look and he's being strangled by an unseen smoker. I actually shot and had to reload before hitting him, Chris was almost dead. when we go on across, the girl on our team, oblivious to JACK SHIT was already in the other building, down the vent, and in the second floor somewhere. I could here chet or someone telling her how to use the med-kit....so b4 Chris and I go down the vent, I wait for him to heal, while he's healing I get grabbed back onto the rooftop by a smoker, so chris has to come save me, right afterwords somehow he got down and is hanging from the rooftop. I almost missed him!! right after I revive him, we rush for the freaking vent to go down to the second story(ya know that rooftop was startin to piss me off) and then I get pounced on just a ft or so away from it. while my friend shoots him off of me, he gets blindsided by a boomer who somehow jiggled his way up there, who explodes (but doesn't vomit) on him. so were both down a few ft away form each other by the vent, and from my angle I can see the zombies coming from the rooftop to us. We actually hold them off b4 they even get to us.... ok so: when ur down u start with 300 health, which goes down at a rate of about 2 hp/sec or so.....so now me, Chris and some other guy from the L4D team (chet went away) were now yelling at this dumb chick in the building. the image in my mind is sketchy, but I remember she was so close to us, then somehow FREAKING JUMPED OUT OF A WINDOW back down to the gas station. she runs to the truck but the box to jump on got destroyed by the tank....so it takes her a good 30 seconds to realize there's another one of the other side....so Chris dies when she's climbing the ladder, while I'm at about 60-70 HP left....so I die when she's 10 feet away....she goes back down the vent, get's pounced on, THE END....

IT WAS pretty frustrating, but again the funnest thing I've done in a while....if that was one of my friends doing that instead of that girl that I didn't know, I would a been yelling and cussing at him so much LOL.....even as long as I play L4D when it comes out, I will alway remember.....THE GAS STATION ROOFTOP OF DOOOOOOOMMMmmmm.......

so that's the way the cookie crumbles :)...

oh another kinda changed thing with the game itself....actually when you melee infected I found more often than not now it kills the zombie. to stay alive in this game you have to melee a lot. It's a big big savior.......when I had to reaload the M16 I didn't wait in the horde, I was just "rightclickrightclickrightclickrightclickright clic k" and it's what gets you outa those mobs/hordes of infected....one note though....melee+tank=NO

You'll find the regular zombies sitting around sometimes too, if you killed her by yourself I'd doubt that it was the Witch.

Well I'm not sure purposefully dying is ever a good thing, and doing so will count against your three strikes, but I guess 30 temporary health is better than 1 normal health. My opinion would be that if your team has taken down most of an onslaught and you're left with a health point, maybe let that last zombie hit you once. The only case where that works would be if nobody on your team had medpacks or pills..

I think you had a really interesting situation that nobody else here has had (or talked about at least).. a really really bad teammate. I think it goes to show the good and bad parts about what the co-op experience really means. The bad part, is when you DO have a crappy teammate, your entire team suffers. You do worse and everybody has to babysit that person. That's also the great thing about it, though.. In most other multiplayer games I can think of, having one bad person won't really have too huge of an effect on your team. If you're super pwnage sauce, you don't really care much about your teammates (unless they're not planting the bomb). Left 4 Dead is great because you actually do need all 4 Survivors, and one weak link will spell doom.

But yeah, sorry about your crappy teammate :P

LOL I really did though, just didn't die.....I landed in an alley, went to the street, a tank was there, booked it back in the building, back up the stairs to my team (meleieng zombies the whole way)
