Hello,

I'm planning to buy Left 4 Dead this holidays and I was wondering how it works...

I've been watching reviews gameplay videos and some more...

There is only one more question I have.

The co-op Mode
The Versus Mode
The single player mode...

(I have some questions about these...-

The Co-Op Mode: What I know about this atm is that you and 3 other people play as the survivors and have to play trough the story.

What I don't know is how it works to enter one of these games. Is it like in half life 2 and cod4 that you just join a server and then you play with those people...

Anyway plz explain that to me.

The versus mode: What I know about this is that its max 8 people and that 4 people play as survivors and 4 people as the infected and so on..

Again what I don't know is how it works to start one... With servers or whatever? (Check my previous question about co-op)

The single player mode: I know everything about this :)

It would be greatly appreciated if some of you answer my questions

thanks in advance

Kind regards Yitue

Basically, what happens is that someone creates a Co-Op/Versus/Survival "lobby" for other players to join and once they are ready to begin, the leader begins the search for an empty server to play on. (The search is usually actually done by a computer but I'm pretty sure the leader can choose a specific server somehow.)

You can also join a game already in progress via the quick play (a random game in your area), through a friend or by typing openserverbrowser, which is like HL2 or TF2's way of finding servers. in console.

Hope that answers your question : )

So if I want to lets say join my friend... it is possible to actually join him..

right?

and you mean that in the lobby some guy says... looking for party co-op game and then when they have enough that want to join he just says... go to that server...

right?

Yes, you can join directly into a game (or lobby) of a friend. There are even "Friends Only" lobbies which only allow your Steam friends to join.

Nah this isn't like those lobbies. Basically, a L4D lobby is just a small, contained lobby for 1-8 people exclusively for your game of L4D. Making a lobby is just a matter of selecting the game-mode you'd like to play, the campaign or map and difficulty and then hitting "ok". Then you're in a lobby where you can chat with anyone in the lobby and choose your character (the chat function was specifically designed to streamline the process of fighting over who gets to play as Bill).
You then wait for four (or eight if it's versus) people to join and when you're ready, you press the "Start" button and the computer finds you a server to play on.

Something like.. i create a server or "lobby" and then I just tell to my friend hey mate join this room. then wait for 2 other people to join...

and then something like.. if they all click the ready button the leader can start the game?

that all players have to click ready and if they are all ready the leader can start?

Something like that?

Yes, something like that.

Also, only the leader can start the game in a lobby.

And here is a picture of a L4D lobby. (it's from the demo but it's almost exactly the same as the full version's lobby.)

Thanks for the screenshot... so when i create a lobby...

Can i "Invite" my friend with something like invite a friend on pc version.

can I start the game with 3 players? or does it have to be full.

if I'm not in a room or if I didn't create one can I see other peoples rooms?

And can I join a room I choose myself while they are already playing?

Yes, you can invite your friend.

Yes you can start a game when its not full.

I'm not really sure of that question.

Yes, you can join a game in progress.

Bad Steve ... said everything already :(

Also, the demo can't be downloaded anymore by what I know :S It was deactivated when L4D come out.

If I was you, I would wait and buy L4D2 ... but having L4D1 is a good thing too.

No problem, Yitue.

Also, you don't have to say "kind regards Yitue" at the end of your posts.
