The idea with this thread is to compare your performance with other to see whether your hardware is being fully utilized or to see what hardware you should upgrade to reach desired results. (I know that there are "can i run it" threads but never seen a thread similar to this, if there already is one pardon me).

Pc specs, graphic settings, resolution and what your minimum fps is on standard maps(minimum fps is the most intresting imo but you can add avg and max if you want to). Playing through Dead Air last part is a good map to see how well your computer performs.

Specs should look something like this:

GPU: GTX 260 (216 cores)
CPU: AMD x2 7750 black edition 2,7ghz@3,15ghz
memory: Corsair 4gb 1066mhz
OS: Windows Vista 64-bit
Resolution: 1920x1080

L4D Settings: Maxed out 4xAA 8xAF

Min fps: Never drop below 40 fps
avg fps: 60-120
max fps:~200

gpu: radeon 4870 @ 850/950
cpu: W3520 (i7 xeon) @ 4200 with HT on
mem: 3x2GB corsair 1600mhz
OS: Windows 7 build 7201
resolution: 1680x1050

l4d as high as it goes

min fps: usually not below 80, very very rare cases below that
avg fps: 150-230
max fps: 290

thats a general guess on the FPS, but about right.

Happy to see that we have alot of high end rigs here :p However, comparing your specs vs fps ballsmalloney i doubt that you never go below 150 when goldkills min is around 80?

You doubt, I don't. Only thing is for some reason it's only L4D, CSS and such if I turn AA on Damn I start lagging bad.

Dont think my rig is "high end" but does pretty damn good with L4D. Not sure how to see what my average FPS is?

Everything maxed out. I use a 9600 GT 512 MB and 5 gigs ram. Epic win.

There is no benchmark for left 4 dead but if you type in "net_graph 1" in console you will be able to see your fps while playing. Keep a steady eye at the fps while playing through a campaign and you will get an idea of what fps you have, min, avg, max.

Max FPS: 330 was looking up at the sky, nothing was there.

you cant get more then 300 FPS in a source game the eng wont let you.

or "cl_showfps 1" if you don't want the rest of that nonsense :P

I don't have L4D for PC (not enough friends on steam vs XBL :p), but I can max out tf2 and never drop below 120ish ^^

Memory: 4GB DDR2 800MHZ
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHZ 1066MHZ 4X2MB LGA775
Graphic card: G-Force 8600 Ultimate Overclock Edition
Resolution: 1440x900
AA: 2x
AT: 2x ( or it is 4x )

Average FPS with molotov+horde: 19-25 ( tested with a molotov thrown in the broken bridge of DT01 and horde coming )
Average FPS without any action: 37-47

I don't get lagged, only in some situations with many smokes + fire and with me looking directly into it. But lag turns out to be really rare when I do change my resolution to 1280x768

Some overclocking on the q6600 and a new graphics card would do miracles to your fps. Even if it's a 70$ second hand graphics card.
Thanks for sharing though.

HD 4830
E5200 @ 2.5 ghz
2 gigs O' DDR2 RAM
Maxed out, full AA, full AF
1024x768 (native resolution so it looks fine)

never bellow 40 fps and averages 75 because if I don't have vsync it tears.

I love source. It looks awesome and isn't demanding at all.
