Playing around with forum look..

Small suggestion: maybe add a private messaging system or chatbox so people dont always have random chats in wrong topics etc

hahah, squerls monologue. I like the new logo. Very attention grabbing. BAM! I know this was brought up in another thread (which I have forgotten what its called) and was probably addressed. But I think avatars would be cool. Again, dont know if it's possible.

I tried downloading SMF forums today and see how it set up, but I don't know.. it'd take a lot of work to get how I want it, so that won't be happened today at least :P The good thing is that I found out converting to any other forum software takes like 5 seconds so don't worry too much about not having ALL the features (avatars, private messaging) right now. After finals and stuff I'll get crackin and see what happens.

Personally i dont know on the avatar thing, it takes up space and i kind of like this simple layout that is current, everyone looks equal :)

Just a quick test to see what the forum would look like were it to have avatars on it.
It's currently just slapped manually to the page's HTML, so it won't work on a large scale. Add some java magic tough, and it will.

This is basically what we don't want to see. I set a wallpaper to my avatar and got this as a result. The forums are flexible tough. They just get squished to the side horribly.

The forums are currently very PDA friendly too. Try shrinking your window to the size of a PDA screen and see how easily you can still read the forums.

Vomit (1-10 posts)
Infected (10-50)
Survivor (50-250)
Boomer
Smoker
Hunter
Tank

What are your opinions? Also, we've been considering avatars which would be 50x50, what are your opinions on that? I'm pretty against signatures because they're basically useless.

I disagree. If you do, make them toggleable from the user control panel. Signatures just waste space and add extra stuff to load when browsing the page.

Just add "witch" to the end of the list and make the requirement something like 5,000 posts :D

While I'm not against Avatars, I only think that you should add them if you see this forum lasting lond beyond the L4D release (it probably will though, so go ahead with 'em if you want)

i rly like this website and its the first 1 i check every day xD and i would like some avatars and other cool things to spice it up like some more forum pages so we all don have to talk about every thing on 1 page..
if we had a question page it would be easier for us to look and help others and maybe a page for us to share funny pics, vids, or share songs, etc. also for some stories about our times playing left 4 dead or any thing else it would be great ^.^
and of course a page for skinning,maps, and any thing else like that
