Not been around alot - the joys of fatherhood!

Had to drop by to let you know about a possible scam at Play.com - I say possible because it could be an innocent cock up, but if not - someone there is making alot of dough!

Basically, it only affects people that use their PlayTrade service. Its sort of their version of Ebay where you can sell old books, games and DVDs.
I sell my old games there, and use the funds to buy the new releases and other DVDs.
When you sell something ,they take a cut - 50p completion fee, and then 10% of the selling price. The remainder goes into your PlayFunds account for you to spend on the site.
The problem is, they are ALSO charging my credit card, as well as taking the money from my Playfunds. It seems to be with mostly pre-ordered items, which makes me think its a computer error somewhere.

If its an employee on the take, then he`s very rich by now!

So, check your bank statements if you`ve bought anything with PlayFunds recently.

honestly that seems like a pretty big fucking glitch to go unnoticed, I'm thinking that this is more likely to be a scam

I've never used the site before, but what you should always do is have a second paypal account, and only put the amount of money in that you wish to use to purchase items, currently on my second paypal account I have $3, if any charge is attempted greater than that, it will be denied, which is pretty sweet

I've just tried to purchase a CD thru the PlayTrade service but it keeps rejecting my debit card. The card has money on it and is accurate on the system but it still doesn't want to know.

Connection maybe?

Dont worry folks , its all OK.
My mate is a knob end !
He rang me up telling me how he had DEFINATELY paid for certain goods with his PlayFunds, but had still been charged on his credit card.
Turned out, they never took the money from his PlayFunds, and when he sat down and worked it all out it was correct to the penny.
Like a fool, I believed him and rang them this morning to complain, only to find my totals added up correctly too. LOL!

The thing is, I`m totally positive that certain DVDs I ordered were paid for with my Funds, at least thats what I clicked on. Conviced of it. So is my mate, thats why we were so sure we were been scammed.
It could be a problem at Plays end where even though you click PlayFunds it still takes it off your credit card - but doesnt touch your funds.
Either way, my mates a twat and he made me look like one too! So I guess I`m the bigger fool! LOL!
