UK, October 23, 2007 - Fancy taking on James Bond and working on top-secret missions for the Ministry of Defense? The British Government is eyeing up games players as the potential special agents of tomorrow.

That's right, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory - an arm of the MoD - is targeting gamers with a new print advertising campaign in UK games magazines. The ad shows a city under siege from UFOs and the caption: "You're already a dab hand at analysing scenarios in the gaming world. But how would you fare in real life, with real lives at stake?"

It's hoped that the campaign will find the 'most unusual minds' in the country to provide solutions for defence and security problems. So far the ads have generated 150 responses of a 'very high calibre', according to a DSTL spokeswoman.

I wish people would stop making me wish that I lived in England...

I mean, it sounds like everything one could wish for.. where playing video games can make you a fucking spy?? America might have Taco Bell, but dammit, I'm ready to move.

LOL!

"Shit, that didn't work! How do you turn off the whole country and turn it on again after 10 secs??"

Over here in Blighty, we've got an advert running for the Royal Navy, where an IT tech bod is working away and says "Well sometimes you just have to turn it off and on again!" It then pans to a shot of a nuclear sub! Yes, i'm sure you can just turn one of them off nice and easy!

Why not? Subs are controlled by dozens of systems, giving them a reboot now and again is good. Its not like turning off a computer will make it sink or explode one of the missiles.

Well... maybe in some of the Russian subs....

Oh no I didn't!
