Ok, I have constructed a plan to get my USB Headphones (which are not supported for use on Xbox 360) to work with my Xbox 360. I want to hook the sound from my Xbox 360 into my PC's Input Jack (that part is done) and then listen to the sound from my Xbox through the PC and into my USB Headphones.

In-case you didn't understand that, I have crafted a uniquely designed layout below:

(paint ftw)

I have managed to get the sound INTO the Input Port on the PC, and it IS playing through. The thing is, I need a program that lets it play through constantly AS I'm playing, and hopefully with no Audio Delay. Right now I can only record it with recording programs, not play it Live.

Help me, I'm a little confused myself :(

Do you have that input on your pc unmuted? It sounds as if you have it muted in the Volume Control. Also my other question is whats the benefit of doing this versus just getting a mic for the xbox...You most likely will have a millisecond delay with this method, due to sound processing of the computer.

I need my headphones hooked up otherwise I will get no sound at all.
And fuck 100$ for Xbox 360 Headphones.

This is for sound, forget the Microphone. My Xbawks is hooked into my monitor, and I have no speakers to hook the 360 into, so my only choice is hooking into the PC and using my USB Headphones.

Basically i want to hook sound into my microphone/input port on my PC and hear it on my USb Headset WITHOUT recording.

EDIT: Ok, I've tried WinAMP and used it's input feature to listen to my input live. The strange thing is now, when I do something on the Xbox, it shows the sound playing in WinAMP but I hear nothing from the headset. I can still listen to music in WinAMP but not the Input...
Ughhhhh.

EDIT EDIT: I hate you all.

How do you have your xbox hooked up to your monitor? HDMI? theres a way you can do it easily with the xbox 360 optical audio message me if you want one for free just would have to pay the shipping,so around 3-4 bucks you would buy a Analog stereo to headphone set and get a headphone coupler and connect it. With that set up you wouldn't have delay or anything youd have to turn down the sound in the game though. or you could by a in line volume adjuster.

No, it's not through HDMI although I wish my monitor supported it. It's through a VGA cord that has the classsic Red and White Audio Cables that I hooked into a Y-shaped converter that came with the Xbox 360.

Did you check your volume settings on your pc? like i said the volume control area and look at that also if you dont see the input make sure you go into the settings. Also switch between line in and mic if that dosnt work.

I've done all of those things. The thing is, I can RECORD my Xbox 360 and all the sounds it makes, but I have nothing I can use to keep it playing through my Headset.

Thats really strange that it wont play the sound without a program. Whats your operating system?

Windows XP SP3.
What exactly is it suppose to be doing? Should it simply start playback immediately after I plug it in, do I need to adjust something? I might have been doing it wrong.

Yeah its supposed to just play when you plug it in. In Windows XP by default "Line In" is muted under "Volume Control". In Control Panel under Sounds and Audio Devices Properties Audio tab Sound Playback frame click the Volume... button and uncheck the Mute check box under Line In.Also make sure in volume control under file make sure advanced is checked.

Stereo Mix was checked, is that the problem? I wouldn't know unless I hooked it back up, but I don't want to if it's going to be a waste of time and effort.

I'm surprised you require a program to play sound through your earphones, since you already have your xbox connected to the computer.

I think if disconnect your xbox from your computer, but a 4-way router (if you don't have one already) and find a REALLY long ethernet cable and connect your xbox that way. Then you can use the mic that comes with your xbox to communicate normally. I'm definitely not a computer whiz so I'm just giving you my opinion. Hopefully you get this working. Then it wont feel as quiet when we're playin. :D

The problem isn't the Microphone, it's the Sound in General. I want to HEAR. The only thing I have that is capable of Sound is this USB Headset.

because then I couldn't play Xbox Live unless I used a shitty wireless connection.
