Hi all,

Im mighty tired of having a slow Notebook with Vista on it. Its Dual core 1.6 ghz 1.6 ghz, 1024 ram, 120 fast harddrive with a ati radeon mobility 1350 with 128 mb expands till 375 when needed. I dont understand why Team fortress 2 for instant runs so slow...

Any help with tuning would be great...

about Vista guys, if you get a Dx10 graphics card, can you run dx10 on Xp or do you need to upgrade to Vista ?

As far as i'm aware, you need Vista for DX10 gaming. Don't think they've got plans to patch XP to be able to do it.

You can run on a DX10 card on XP. Your rig is'nt shit but I don't know what type your GPU is. Regardless it's Vista that's making your comp run slow.

You can run DX9 apps with a DX10 card under XP, but without Vista AND a DX10 vid card, you won't be able to access all the pretty DX10 effects.

Well there must be ways to slow down Vista sucking up resources and how come in some games its fine and others not?

Anyone got websites with links on what for instant needs to run at startup? Or how to decrease resources use?

Your graphics card is struggling massively, its not a gaming card by any stretch of the imagination, so will suffer alot.
Vista really needs 2gb ram to operate effectively, using just 1gb most of that is taken up by the OS, leaving very little left for the game.

Updrade to 2gb, or try XP.

Don't think of it as downgrading to XP lol. I just sold my Vista to a friend that wanted it, so I can buy XP. No point dealing with all the shite that it comes with, plus I don't want it hogging more memory.

Someone stated it above... it really is more like upgrading...
