Well I was wondering do people think it is okay to pirate old games which you can't find anymore like for instance System Shock 2, or do you still think its as bad as pirating something like Left 4 Dead.

well, say you buy a game that's hard to find from Ebay.
the seller gets the money, not the developer.
Some games also get discontinued, so I'm sure in the right context it will be alright.

Depends if it's classified as abandonware or not. If it is, meaning the original copyright/intellectual property is no longer owned by anyone or resides in the public domain, then it's not technically piracy. Abandonware, like ROMs, is a touchy subject fogged up by legalese and countless interpretations.
