WOW! I saw this documentary yesteday about REAL Zombies if thats true or not!!!
And what do ya know IT IS!!! In Tahiti with Vodoo and Poison people are "made" into Zombies. They get injected, docs think they are dead, buried. Picked up by poisoner, antidote injected killing alot of braincells and nerves if done bad. If calculated they use the victims for whatever and sometimes they then "wakeup" and return back to family!

A man returned 18 months later with basically no sign of being "alive" but walking or anotherman returned 18 years later speaking about his funeral and how a nail injured him. He got reburied after he was dead for real! Even in law there is mention of "zombie" and how to deal with them...

Im not pulling a joke here do a google on the issue...

I red / watched reports about that too. Its hard to imagine that such things as voodoo could possibly be real, but there are indeed toxines that can appearently stop all lifesigns on a human, causing doctors to claim them dead.
Personaly I dont believe in "spiritual things" like black magic or voodoo but this topic is worth a closer look at.

the whole Zombie-Mysticism is based on Caribbean Voodoo. Unlike the myths of Vampires (Succubus/Incubus), Werewolves or Ghouls, the Zombie first entered the western world in the late 19th century by the discoveries of William Seabrook in Haiti. There was an artcle in the Harpers's Magazine (in 1889) entitled "The Country of the Comers-Back".

I therefore think its funny when people don't like "shambling" and slow-moving zombies, cause that is what they are. Just imagine a vampire without long teeth or a naked werewolf ...

Personaly I like fast moving Zombies more than slow ones, because they appeare more frightening to me. If you look at "Zombies" in a more "rational" way you are right that slow, shambling zombies are more "realistic" than fast ones.

Personaly I like fast moving Zombies more than slow ones, because they appeare more frightening to me. If you look at "Zombies" in a more "rational" way you are right that slow, shambling zombies are more "realistic" than fast ones.

Yeah real zombies aren't "zombies." They're just brainwashed people that a docotr would pronounce "dead." No magic whatsoever involved, just slavery and poison. Which is better than zombies ;D

Yeah, TR already said that L4D is technically about infected, not about zombies.
I personally would like the feature of fast moving infected that can be easily killed and then revive (if not killed by a head shot) as slow moving, hard-to-kill, shambling zombies.

Wes Craven directed a movie about all this called the Serpent and the Rainbow starring Bill Pullman back in the 80's.

Good flick based on an article in Life magazine I think. The idea is that some of these pharmacutical companies believe that the toxins used by the witch doctors caould be used to benefit terminally ill patients. But the witch doctors are very VERY secretive.

In the movie, it says that a powder is blown at the victim (normally as revenge) and they choke appear to die. In fact the toxins lower the body's temp and heart rate to almost on existant levels. Bugger is, the person is completely aware of what is going on, all the time!!!!! In Haiti, the way they determine if someone has dies is to insert a needle into the eyeball (remember the person can see, feel and understand all that is going on) and if they flinch then they are alive, if the don't, no embalming, stick 'em in a coffin and bury them.

Depending on how nasty the witch doctor is feeling, he'll then go and dig them up in a while, and when they come round, they'll be insuch a brain paralysed state that they can be controlled, or if they're feeling particularly nasty, leave 'em buried. They come round eventually to kick and scream and slowly die, buried alive! Some manage to dig themselves out but once out they just walk around in a daze, so as a zombie!

Pretty fucking nasty!
