So, community, what board games do you like to play? What games specifically do you like?
I myself play Descent (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/17226) and Arkham Horror (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/15987) a lot. Also some Frag (http://www.sjgames.com/frag/) when we want a quick game of something.
I used to play some chess competitively when I was in high school, and was raised being taught it by my father.

Me and a friend of mine play Hero Scape ( I can't remember is its scrap or scape...hell it could be something else.)
It's fun building up the board and stuff, I srsly suck at it though.

Clue is definitely my favorite. Chess is fun but I'm terrible at it. While I was growing up my dad let me play with some of his stuff, but I can't remember any of the names except Risk and Catan. And do table tops count?
And also I loves me some DragonStrike (http://www.cinemassacre.com/new/?p=1169)

Why is it that almost every game of Monopoly you play with guys usually ends up in a fist fight or throwing or tipping the game over lol?

Probably because a short game is still over 4 hours long. Gets sickening.
But i rarely play board games, when i do though it's either monopoly, chess or draughts (I think you americans call it checkers)

Battleball (insanely awesome football game where you crush people)
And some game I can't remember the name of... 9th Lane, or something. Anyway, there was this house full of traps and there were lots of players. You were there to collect heir money, and only 1 person could take it. They had to be the last ones alive. Anyway, you could control any character on your turn, and only you knew what characters you actually had (on cards) and you wanted one of them to survive. You wanted to control other players' characters and make them die by the house's traps. Last one standing gets the heir money. Believe me, it was amazingly epic.

I remember playing Monopoly with my mom so many times. The Seattle Edition. She got tired of it, and ever since she got two new children, she's been too busy to play again!
That's why I don't visit her anymore!

I play board games with my wife, and if I can get my buddies together, it's some of the "harder' stuff
You seem to like Fantasy Flight Games, Kenny. (Played both yours.) I'm partial to Battlestar Galactica (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=18&enmi=Battlestar%20Galactica) and Anima (http://http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=45&enmi=Anima:%20The%20Card%20Game) (Which I play with my wife; think Final Fantasy Card game under 20 bucks. Have a look, Ladies and Gents.)
Love Battlestar. Think of a game where you are all contributing cards to fight off enemies and solve problems. You hand in these cards face down because...
One of you is a Cylon who wants the group to LOSE.
Lots and LOTS of Paranoia, putting people in the brig and with the expansion, blowing them out the airlock.
"No hard feeling, Bill, ok?" *Whooooooosh* :D
You may know my feelings about Last Night on Earth. LNOE (http://boardgame.geekdo.com/boardgame/29368). GREAT game w/ lots of strategy. Classic, head hit/supernatura/hard to kill zombies. (I'm going to be play-testing the upcoming scenario book apparently.)
And Fantasy flight games is going to be releasing Gears of War soon. It should be similar to Doom (http://http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=34) but with lots of Chest High Walls and figures with chainsaws...
My collection is... large. http://boardgame.geekdo.com/collection/user/OrangeCat%20X

Nice collection! Lot of money invested in that right there. I do love FF Games, they make some good stuff. I've heard of Anima, just never looked into it. How is Axis and Allies? I saw it at the local geek store and I love World War 2, but I couldn't see how I could play it for a good amount of time without wanting to hit something.
Also, ever tried Tannhauser (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/25261)? Great game, but broken out of the box. One of the mercenaries (the non-named characters that can respawn 'x' amount of times in a round) on the german team is better than some of the named characters on the allied team. Either way, fun stuff.

Yes, my collection spans at least 30 years of gaming. (I'm 40, I've played text games on a orange, monochrome monitor.)
I like Axis and Allies. It's not historical, or especially accurate, but it certainly gives the FEEL of a global conflict. :) Played it at the lake with my friends this year. If you want a smaller, less time eating game, they are reprinting these: A&A Pacific (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1262) and A&A Europe (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/520). They are cool, as long as one player does not mind being the center of attention from the Allies.
I like Pacific best. As the Japanese player, you KNOW the US player is going to "get up off the couch" and kick your ass. (It's just a matter of time.) But if you can achieve your objectives in time (Pacific for Asians.) before the US gets their s**t together, you win. :)
People try to add more detail and "realism"(complexity) to these games, but... Why? If you want more realism and chrome, you should play another game.
Kenny

Realism in board games is horrible. I've played a lot, I'm certainly not quite your age, though. I'm getting less and less time to play them and it's somewhat saddening now.
Something else I just through of was Settlers of Catan (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/13). Amazing game, and really fun to screw with your friends and make deals behind the scenes. :P
