View Full Version : Weird problem with new RAM

I just bought two new 1-GB DDR2 rams.
My Motherboard has two DDR2-Slots, so that shouldn´t be the problem.
Now, when I tried to add the sticks to my PC, they didn´t fit!
I know for sure that they are DDr2 and that my board supports that
I found the right slot(s)
but it won´t fit

The notch is at the right place, so that shouldnt be the Problem
the retention levers were open too

Suggestions?

Broken RAM (Literally)?

*every* DDR2-RAM should fit in *every*DDR2-Slot, right?

I mean is it like visibly broken, like missing a chunk?

Nope, both RAMs seem to be alright

If you can, return them.

well if the sticks or board arent visibly damaged. then either your ram or your sockets arent actually DDR2.

what ram did you buy and what mobo do you have?

also, try flipping the sticks and putting them in the other way if you havent

I was gonna say flip em too. I agree with Shrub, return and get new 'uns.

It might just need some extra elbow grease. I literally pounded on my RAM before it fit. Don't be gentle with those things.

Lol... I hope you don't have what I like to call a mis-manufacture. Like my cpu fan. I don't know what's up with it, but it fits so tight, I don't clamp it down. I don't even know if I'll be able to get it off.

Well, I did push them kinda hard, so hard that the mainboard bent a little bit.
I even thought I had destroyed the mainboard for a sec.

I´ll take my PC to the store where I bought the ram tomorrow, maybe the people there know just wth is wrong with my system.

Anyways, thanks for all your support!

Oh well, turns out it was theelbow grease
(I love that word =D )
The people at the PC store cleaned my PC(it was kinda dirty -.- ) and then pushed the RAMs in the slots. Lesson learned, loss:five european bucks(€).
