I'm wondering is anyone could give me suggestions on music, as I haven't gotten anything new for quite awhile and I figured there would be some music buffs here
Namely a Pop album, and when I say "pop" I don't mean Britney Spears, I mean like Mika, Gary Go, and Scissor Sisters, and 90s Weezer.
I'm also a huge fan of alternative similar to The Mountain Goats, The Pixies, The Flaming Lips, Smashing Pumkins and Neutral Milk Hotel.

If none of these names are familiar feel free to suggest whatever anywyas, as long as it's not metal or hip hop (I do like it, I'm just extremely picky with these genres)

Personally I love "The Presidents of the United States of America"

They are a little different but I guess they would be classified as Alternative. You can't go wrong with any of their songs off of their first album.

IMO, I might add.

I have 2 songs by them, "Cleveland Rocks" and their cover of "Video Killed the Radio Star", and I love both, I may checkout the whole first album now. Pure Frosting right?

Oh and Sonic Youth is another alternative reference point.

"Beautiful Machine" - Shihad.

Although usually dwelling in the realms of hark rock this is probably their poppy-est album to date.

Pure Frosting is definitely their worst album.

Their first album is "The Presidents of the United States of America"
That is probably their best album. But their newest one is also really good. It's called "These are the Good Times People". And they have a couple more albums that are pretty good also.

However they would probably be hard to find because The Presidents are not a very popular band.

Edit: Forgot to mention that, those were the only two songs I liked off of that album.

My mistake, and I don't worry about me finding it, I found the Jet Set Radio Future Soundtrack, that was a bitch to find

May I recommend Aphex Twins?

This man speaks the truth!
Although it's Twin not Twins jesus ;)

Aphex twin is a bit different, so you might want to start out with one of his 'softer' tracks.

If you liked Trogdor for it's comedic take on metal, listen to some dethklok, or just look up the lyrics.

Can't help on pop, though. I'll listen to that stuff if it comes on my radio, but it's namely alternative rock.

I think you'd like bands like Metric, Tokyo Police Club, Cat Empire (Which is Ska, you might like them), Bad Religion, NOFX, The Eagles of Death Metal, and a Saskatchewan (Canada) alt-pop band called Library Voices.

You can find them here:

http://www.myspace.com/thelibraryvoices

You might (MIGHT) also like my band, found here:

http://www.sonicbids.com/epk/epk_left.asp?epk_id=98607&poll_id=&skin_id=&submission_id=

We're getting pretty big. We're on 4 radio stations, won a recent radio contest, and even have a song in a movie!

Sorry, I like to blow my own horn :D

Anyways, if you haven't heard any of them, they are all worthy of checking out.
