Evidently the game suffers from horrible AI and a host of other complaints which are just stupid. Then again, it is an ubisoft game. Disappointing, I wanted to pick it up on pc whenever it came out.

This game turned out to be a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT, I just got my copy (my buddy works at EBGames and they got their shipments early), DO NOT BUY IT, rent before you buy I'm telling you now you will be disappointed, this game had huge potential but it made itself stick to the story to much and completely ruined it, and the fact that it had a huge TWIST, I love twists, I love Night's movies, but the problem is they deploy a twist in the first five minutes. It's like the beginning of the Sixth Sense and it already says that guy is ghost... like wtf (btw that was Hilary's words..).

Four years in the making with the largest animation database in a Video Game to waste, and you think well there's still free roam... wrong if you kill some one who's innocent, game over... WOW.

Thanks Ubisoft for the giant shit you took on my forehead.

Yup, biggest disappointment in a game, EVER. You'll play through it once (hopefully, most casual gamers won't make it thanks to it's repetitiveness every time you want to get intel on an assassination target) and that's all, you will never want to go back.

Basically the complaints are the story being blown right from the start, the repetitiveness, stupid AI, and shallow gameplay. Essentially the assassin is just a cruise missile who goes flying in to home in on his target, then run away while mashing one or two buttons. Huge letdown :(

This is the shittiest game since the bomberman game the bombed the 360 a while back, this game is horrible, DO NOT BUY IT, rent before you buy... this game is horrible, u kill everyone with one hit, its easy as hell, and i mean easy I could bring it to one of those mental institutions or old folks homes and they could pwn at it this game is so easy, not to mention you can go through never having to fight, just hop on a rooftop and your free, they cant do crap, just shoot arrows (one archer in a city -_-, only three cities) and even if your standing still they still miss, I've seen better AI in 2d scrolling shooters it's THAT BAD, it's an illusion this game, a great example of over hype, this game SUCKS.. it deserves a one, out of a billion, people who reviewed this game reviewed it based off the amount of effort the ubi mont. team put into it, years of animations and textures... this game is beautiful, even with a crappy story this game could have been good, it's just the fighting is so half assed it's horrible...

The game is absolutely horrible, once you get past the 3 hours worth of a game you'll find out.

Yeah the game really held you back and the whole future thing ruined it, like just screw the story, stick to what Hitman did and just say KILL THIS KILL THAT, it doesn't matter they should have fired those writers and focused on the gameplay because the whole holding right trigger then franticly pressing X to counter is REALLY ANNOYING, they should have brought in different ways to fight, and what happened to the bow? It was in an interview but I never used it, unless I missed a part or didn't do a special mission.

Not really, amazing graphics... play it and get a bit far after the mashing you'll realize they have assed the combat which ruined the whole game, and after the 3rd to 4th assassination you'll realize it's the same thing every time, rough up this guy, go back to bureau, pickpocket this guy, go back to bureau, eavesdrop on this guy, go back to bureau, well done you got your targets location... now it's protected by armed guards 360 degrees around... same thing every time...

How can people say the combat is half-assed and the storlyine is boring? Have you BEATEN the game? Alright....

Combat:
First off, I don't see how the combat sucks. It has to be the most simple yet amazing combat system I have seen in a while. It's amazing cuz it's simple, yet so complex at the same time. You can just slash and kill, you can slash with timing to perform an amazing kill, you can counter for a kill, or you can grab people to toss them into or off of objects. The animations are very repetitive, but they don't get old because of how they are presented. Punching someone in the face, flipping them around and thrusting your blade through their back is just the most satisfying thing ever. No, I take that back.

The combat moves you can perform even outside of combat may be the most satisfying thing ever. Walking up to a victim, knocking them to their knees and thrusting your wrist blade into their neck as they wonder wth is going on is the best thing ever. And throwing blades from a distance is a quick way to dispatch enemies without geting dirty.

Repetitive gameplay:
So you go to different cities and do the same thing quite a few times. You find a view point, find missions for information, do same missions, perform assassinations. This is why you complain about it, because you don't take the time to enjoy what you're doing. So you eavesdrop on people, pick pocket people, etc. Listen to what the people say, take you time and you will find out WHY the targets are there. When you take them out, listen to what they say, which will take me to my next point....

Storyline:
You say the storyline is shit? Ok, you start off getting everything taken from you because you are arrogant, you were on a mission to retrieve an artifact which is brought back by another person. You are sent out by your master to assassinate 9 people, yet something is off. Everyone you assassinate, they believe they are only doing things that help mankind for the 'new era'. You listen to what they say, and if you pay attention you may realize something fishy is going on. The funny part is, this storyline isn't even the main storyline, it's about Desmond and why he's there in the first place. The people you've been killing have served 2 different leaders, which is used against you in an attempt to get rid of all assassins. Of course, you don't have to worry about that. After killing the last target, you are told your master is actually a templar *GASP* Surprise! Now you realize your main enemy is your master, you go to take care of him. Everyone in the village is now controlled by a mind power under the master, which is using the artifact that has secret powers! Sweet, you kill him, you see a map on the artifact and there it goes, you are pulled from the animus. The entire time you've been used to find the artifact, or at least a map of them. You can go into emails to find out that has been the plan all along, and you now have the ability to see writing on the walls that tell you alot of things that make no sense cuz you can't read 'em. If you could, you wouldn't understand most of it anyway.

So the whole story about Altiar which was odd enough, now makes Desmond's story even more odd. The game is abruptly concluded, but it's obvious that there's gonna be more to it and another game is happening FOR SURE.

Personally. I can't wait for a number 2. If it still follows Desmond and Altiar, I hope you go on a search for the artifacts as Altiar whilest as Desmond, you keep the Templar's from getting them, all whilest Desmond and Altiar become one as they have begun too.

The Combat is fun, but a game aimed at realism it's horrible, no matter what even when I go in, attract everyone's attentions, run around get 50 guards after me, you can own them all, even my friend who just picked up the game just ran around the "kingdom" fighting endless regiments of Tuetonics, the fighting is way to easy, I don't care if your gladiator, King Richard, Aragorn, Achilles, you cannot take on the many enemies.

Play this game more before you open your fucking mouth, you will realize how boring everything gets, yes the graphics are amazing, so are the animations, the fighting is cool for a bit, but this game is not re playable, they should have deployed unlock ables, and don't you fucking say the extra "5" knives every assassination is an unlock able. EVEN IN THE FUCKING INTRO MOVIE IT SHOWS Altair using a fucking crossbow then he pulls out a short sword (not the short blade on his back), then he uses his long sword, fucking assholes at ubi.

In a week you'll be wondering why your not playing this game anymore, get over it, the 2nd should hopefully be better, but for FOUR years of work ubi, FUCK U.

I agree with Kenny, and it still got mediocre reviews 7.5 - 8 ish, and its not like they never told us what weapons you were getting right off the bat. That trailer was released like 2 years ago, since then they've revised the game, no one really cares about the cinematic intro... and you shouldnt be surprised that those weapons aren't included AFTER they've told us explicitly they wouldn't be... Sheesh...

i have no idea what you guys are doing to make it suck, but i beat it yesterday and i thought it was one of the greatest games ive ever played (aside from super mario....just kidding) it's only repetitive if you make it that way, the game plays how you play it. if you do the same thing every time, then it will be repetitive, if you do it differently, then it will be fun. you have 3 huge cities, 1 smaller city, and the land in between, and you can go anywhere in those areas with a small load time in between, which even during loading you can control the character....i dont know what your problems are but this game is great, try searching for some flags or killing some templars

and the AI is great, so is the gameplay.. the game is how you make it

This is one of the best game experiences I've ever had, when I first picked it up is was the most fun since right when Halo came out, but the way they made it unplayable after 10 hours really killed me, they ruined it, and that itself should put it down to a 8-7.

ya the ending was great, made me want more and how they will do AC2. i dont get it though, nick, you say all the reviews agree, when the worst review it got was from ign and it was a 7! thats 7 higher then 0 (i think) and all they said was the story sucked (but they didnt even stay after the credits) and that it was repetitive (because they made it that way by doing the same thing) so go say what you want but im telling you, this game is unique. it plays out however you make it, kinda like an rpg with a different ending but the same gameplay, this is the same ending with completly different gameplay.

and you never get the crossbow, they took it out becuase back then it would take over a minute to reload a crossbow, which in a fight, is a long time, they replaced it with the shortsword and knives which kick ass if you know how to use them

I beat the entire game, am collecting flags and am still finding it as amazing as it first was. I as a matter of fact can't wait to play through it again, the game is fuckin amazing.

I'd have to agree with xerosnake. I happened to walk in my friend and his girlfriend playing and witnessed the epic that is the ending. I was like &quot;OMG LET ME PLAY WHOLE GAME&quot;

And they were reluctant to give it up. Im playing through it now, had to dust off the ol' Xbox though. I mean, without divulging any super secret spoilers... I can verily say, that that was the best &quot;going to get you hyped for next game&quot; ending ever...

Actually NVM, I lie... Im not playing through it now. I HAVE it, but I did homework right when I got him, and the strain of thought lead me to CoD4 instead. :)

I think the cameras and the climbing could've used more work though.
Thats the only reason I don't think this game is too great and a bit overhyped (plus the crossbow thing)
The cameras are stupid and when you do the cinematic counters and such, grass or an NPC is usually blocking your way from seeing what happens. Sometimes Altair just randomly stops climbing something even when there is something to grab above him, which is very annoying when the guards are throwing rocks at you.
The cutscenes are really annoying though because you can't skip them, and the same dialogue from saving a citizen gets VERY annoying.

I drooled over the first demo and have been watching like crazy for more information. I pre-ordered the game in july and I'm still playing it every day enjoying it.
