Did CCleaner just try to give me a virus?

I downloaded an update for CCleaner by Piriform, which updates quite often.

However, this time, I was notified by my anti virus that several trojans had been removed from my computer. Did Piriform try to infect my PC?

I sure hope not, I use that program all the time. It was recommended to me by the people at the local computer shop. I think the antivirus program was just removing those viruses at a random time, I don't think it had to do with CCleaner. :D
