Well, if you're into classics I'd suggest Fallout and Fallout 2, they syhould be about $10 each.
Half Life Anthology has Half Life 1, Blue Shift, Opposing Force, and TF Classic for $15.
Orange Box is a deal you can't turn down at $30.

Doom 3 may be worth a look to you.
Starwars: Battlefront 2 is always good (except for your teams AI, stupid fuckers)
And I'm not sure of you pc, but if it's good enough, get Crysis (maybe the expansion) some of the most fun I've had in a shooter.
All of those are 30$ and below.

NOOOOOOOOO! DO NOT GET DOOM 3!!!!!!!!!!!!
That game is painful to play.
If you really want a cheap PC game you should get Diablo 2. From what I hear a lot of people still play it even though its full of hackers that have super characters and fake items.
EDIT: Actually just go to half.com to find anything cheap >.>

Everyone says that and yet I find it to be a blast.
Painkiller really was worth its money IMO. As well as Killing Floor. Both very simple but very funny monster shooters. Buy Painkiller if you like singleplayer and Killing Floor if your into online coop shooter.

I always get hit from behind by enemies then I get cornered. That plus the fact that whenever you get hit your screen shakes like crazy makes it impossible to kill anyone. Also the AI is the worst AI I have ever seen in a video game. None of the guns have flashlight attachments which makes it painfully hard to even shoot at any of the zombies that always tend to spawn behind pillars and over piles of "Armor Shards"

Oh that was good design.
Enhances the fear because you have to choose between light, and firepower.

You should be able to get Crysis cheap, just depends on how good your PC is though. If you want mods then you can't go wrong with HL2.

Doom 3 may be worth a look to you.
This. Doom 3 is a great horror/FPS game, and there are thousands of mods to download. If you get the game i would suggest downloading the Last Man Standing 4.0 mod and Open Coop. They are both great multiplayer mods.

Strategy game=Starcraft. I'm actually pretty sure it is free to download from a few sites LEGALLY! Like ICcup (infact, that gives me a good idea, time to make a new thread :D )
orange box

Orange Box has 3 of the best single player FPS's of all time, IMO anyway, portal, which is about 3 hours of pure awesome, and Team Fortress 2, which will take your social life and drown it in turpentine before shitting in it's mouth.

No, but we're all entitled to our opinions.
I just thought that although it was completely brilliant, the short amount of time it took to beat does not warrant such a price. $10 would've been more reasonable.

Yeah, I do see what you mean. The experience was amazing while it lasted though.

If you're a strategy fan, Medieval 2 Total War Gold. For 30 bucks, I think it is, you're easily getting 200+ hours of gameplay.
